Job description

Overview

This is a paid, one-off consulting engagement for seasoned M&A finance and corporate development professionals, or for people with an investment banking or transaction advisory background. The work is part of an AI Marketplace research project and is based entirely on your practical experience — no advance preparation is needed.

The engagement is a remote, project-based interview rather than an ongoing full-time position. It is available only to experts based in the United States.

Estimated compensation is $165 per hour, prorated for a 30-minute task.

What the project involves

You will take part in a recorded, AI-led video interview lasting about 30 minutes. During the interview, you will be asked to describe how you actually handle your work in real situations, with a focus on your day-to-day methods and decision-making.

Core discussion areas

  • Constructing valuation analyses using DCF, trading comparables, precedent transactions, and accretion/dilution methods
  • Pressure-testing assumptions, synergy inputs, financing structures, and the range of prices you would be willing to accept
  • Preparing investment committee or board materials that summarize risks, expected returns, and recommendations
  • Recording approval conditions, financing commitments, decision gates, and any changes made before a signing decision

The interview will specifically explore workflows in valuation modeling, synergy analysis, recommended price ranges, investment committee materials, and financing approval processes.

Who should apply

Applicants should be able to explain these processes step by step from direct personal experience and answer follow-up questions from the AI interviewer with clear, detailed examples. Strong, practical experience in real production environments is essential.

Experience and background needed

  • At least 7 years of experience in M&A financial modeling, corporate development, investment banking, transaction advisory, or strategic finance
  • Hands-on ownership of valuation modeling, synergy analysis, price-range recommendations, investment committee materials, and financing approval workflows
  • Experience shaping or affecting decisions around valuation bands, synergy assumptions, downside cases, financing strategy, approval readiness, and escalation to the board or investment committee
  • Comfort working with Excel, PowerPoint, Capital IQ, PitchBook, FactSet, Bloomberg, DealCloud, or Workiva
  • Ability to explain workflows, decisions, and rationale in a clear and structured way
  • Direct responsibility for the relevant processes in a real business setting
  • Experience collaborating across finance, strategy, treasury, investor relations, or broader business-partnering teams

Project notes

This is a single project engagement. Successful participants will be compensated for completing the recorded interview. The stated hourly rate is an estimate based on the expected completion time. Participants will manage their own schedule, use their own equipment and software, and may take part in other opportunities as they wish.

After the interview is completed, your video, transcript, and AI-generated insights will be shared with the internal research team and AI lab partner. The material will be used to build a structured list of profession-related tasks and to support AI model improvement.

Leave it if you'd like a reply — we won't use it for anything else.
