Filipino (Tagalog) Language Expert

Role Description

This is an hourly, remote contractor position focused on enhancing AI-generated Filipino (Tagalog) content. You will be responsible for reviewing and creating high-quality Tagalog reference materials. Your tasks will involve evaluating language quality, assessing step-by-step reasoning, and providing detailed written feedback. You will analyze AI outputs for accuracy, fluency, grammar, spelling, appropriate tone, cultural relevance, and adherence to instructions. Specific areas of assessment include identifying errors in meaning, mistranslations, incorrect register (formal vs. informal), ambiguity, issues with code-switching (Taglish), and logical inconsistencies. Fact-checking will be required when necessary. You will also produce exemplary rewrites and model answers that exemplify best practices in Filipino writing, and rate/compare various AI responses based on their correctness and overall quality.

This role is with a rapidly expanding AI Data Services company that provides essential training data for leading global AI corporations and foundation-model developers. Your expertise in the Filipino/Tagalog language will directly contribute to refining the world's foremost AI models, ensuring their Filipino language outputs are more natural, dependable, culturally accurate, and clearly articulated.

Important Note: While there is no immediate project assignment for this role, qualified candidates will be prioritized for future relevant opportunities within our expert network. This also grants access to upcoming projects.

Your Profile

• Possess a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Linguistics, Filipino/English Literature, Communications, Journalism, Translation, or a closely related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Demonstrate native or near-native proficiency in Filipino/Tagalog, encompassing both reading and writing capabilities.
• Exhibit strong professional command of English (minimum C1 level) to effectively comprehend guidelines and deliver comprehensive feedback in English.
• Have accumulated at least 3 years of professional experience in writing, editing, localization, translation, content quality assurance, journalism, education, or other language-centric roles.
• Maintain a profound understanding of Filipino/Tagalog grammar, spelling conventions, punctuation, and stylistic nuances, with the ability to articulate and rectify linguistic errors.
• Be adept at managing various registers (formal/informal), employing appropriate polite forms, and understanding the nuances of Taglish versus pure Tagalog based on audience requirements.
• Exhibit exceptional attention to detail in identifying subtle shifts in meaning, awkward literal translations, fabricated claims, or culturally incongruent phrasing.
• Be reliable, self-motivated, and capable of consistently delivering high-quality work within an hourly, remote contractor framework, accommodating different time zones.
• Prior experience in AI data training/annotation, translation quality assurance, editorial quality assurance, or rubric-based evaluations is highly advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop AI Training Content: Craft prompts and create gold-standard Filipino/Tagalog responses across diverse subject areas, including general knowledge, customer support, education, and conversational writing.
• Optimize AI Performance: Evaluate and rank AI-generated outputs to enhance fluency, accuracy, tone alignment, and cultural appropriateness.
• Ensure Model Integrity: Identify and flag unsafe or misleading content, factual inaccuracies, biases, and language posing policy risks; validate the reliability of AI models for various applications.

Additional Information

This is a remote, contract-based position. Compensation is provided on an hourly basis.
