Filipino / Tagalog Quality Assurance Lead

Role overview

This is a remote, hourly contractor position for a Filipino/Tagalog Quality Assurance Lead. You will oversee quality control for Filipino/Tagalog AI training work, making sure outputs are accurate, consistent, culturally appropriate, and aligned with project rubrics. The role focuses on reviewing AI-generated content as well as trainer and QA output, then giving clear written feedback to improve quality across the team.

You will also support onboarding, maintain project documentation, communicate updates to contributors, and help address inactive or inconsistent participation. Strong Filipino/Tagalog and English skills, sharp attention to detail, and the ability to manage quality processes in a remote environment are essential.

This is part of a fast-growing AI data services organization that supports some of the world’s largest AI companies and foundation-model labs. Your work will contribute directly to improving AI model quality by ensuring Filipino-language training data is natural, precise, and well documented. There is no immediate project available at present, but qualified candidates may be contacted first when relevant opportunities open up and may also gain access to future projects through the expert network.

Responsibilities

• Review Filipino/Tagalog content samples, identify quality gaps, and share ongoing feedback through direct messages or other team channels.
• Monitor trainer and QA performance, escalating repeated or serious issues when they appear.
• Keep trainers and QAs informed about guideline changes, workflow updates, project instructions, and quality expectations, mainly through Discord.
• Answer questions quickly and clearly, especially on wording, tone, register, translation accuracy, Taglish usage, and cultural nuance.
• Reach out to inactive contributors, encourage re-engagement, track follow-ups, and surface availability concerns when needed.
• Build and maintain project materials such as style guides, trackers, FAQs, examples, honeypots, onboarding resources, and quality notes.
• Plan and conduct onboarding or training calls to walk trainers and QAs through rubrics, workflows, standards, and Filipino/Tagalog-specific language rules.
• Keep language guidelines applied consistently across the team as projects change over time.
• Recommend process improvements and help strengthen scalable QA systems for Filipino/Tagalog language projects.

Requirements

• A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Filipino, Tagalog, Linguistics, Translation, Communications, Journalism, English, Education, Quality Assurance, or a related field.
• Native or near-native command of Filipino/Tagalog, with excellent reading and writing ability.
• Strong English proficiency for understanding guidelines and communicating feedback clearly.
• At least 3 years of professional experience in Filipino/Tagalog writing, editing, translation, localization, content QA, AI training, education, annotation, or similar language-review work.
• Solid knowledge of Filipino/Tagalog grammar, spelling, punctuation, tone, register, cultural context, and natural usage.
• Comfort working across formal Filipino, conversational Tagalog, and Taglish/code-switching while staying consistent with project rules.
• Ability to assess content against detailed rubrics and detect issues such as mistranslation, awkward phrasing, poor tone, incorrect code-switching, hallucinated claims, ambiguity, or inconsistent terminology.
• Prior experience guiding or supporting remote teams of trainers, annotators, reviewers, editors, or QAs is preferred.
• Familiarity with tools such as Discord, Google Sheets, Google Docs, trackers, dashboards, and project management platforms.
• Strong organization and attention to detail for managing documentation, onboarding materials, FAQs, and QA trackers.
• Experience with AI training, data annotation, large language models, prompt/response review, or rubric-based LLM QA is a plus.
