Organization Background

ARSIS - Association for the Social Support of Youth is a non-governmental social organization active nationwide since 1992, dedicated to supporting children and youth and safeguarding their rights. It primarily assists young individuals but also works with children and adults experiencing adverse living conditions affecting development and access to social benefits. ARSIS also provides services facilitating the integration of vulnerable groups such as homeless people, migrants, refugees, asylum seekers, the poor, and Roma communities, while advocating for human rights.

Project Framework

In collaboration with the International Organization for Migration (IOM), ARSIS operates a Mobile Child Protection Unit in Thrace since February 2019. The unit aims to support and protect unaccompanied minors and children separated from their families among the newly arrived refugee population in the Evros region. The team's intervention focuses on the Reception and Identification Center in Fylakio.

Position Overview

We are recruiting a Field Coordinator responsible for coordinating and supporting the mobile child protection team in Orestiada, Thrace. The role involves managing activities concerning beneficiaries, staff, and operational procedures to ensure high-quality service delivery. The coordinator provides guidance on scientific methodology and ethics, fosters teamwork and role clarity, represents the unit at meetings and public events, and liaises between the field team and the organization's operational center in Thessaloniki, handling financial and operational matters.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and support the field team both practically and methodologically.
• Ensure adherence to program tools, forms, and reports, including preparing detailed monthly reports.
• Coordinate daily, weekly, and monthly team planning and prioritize case-related actions.
• Organize regular organizational and supervisory meetings with subgroups.
• Promote team well-being through monthly individual meetings, staff plenaries, supervision sessions, and training, collaborating with program coordinators.
• Ensure effective collaboration within the team, clarifying roles and encouraging all members' input.
• Participate in coordination meetings with field stakeholders and communicate with other organizations as needed.
• Keep the team informed about all program activities, issues, and developments.
• Plan advocacy initiatives in cooperation with the organization's central office.
• Collaborate with administrative staff to forecast and fulfill field resource needs such as supplies and budget adjustments.
• Report on program progress, challenges, and deficiencies to program managers and work collaboratively to find solutions.

Mandatory Qualifications and Experience

• Prior experience in social and humanitarian organizations addressing humanitarian protection issues.
• Experience liaising and mediating with public and private entities providing services to vulnerable social groups or children.
• Degree in Social or Humanitarian Studies.
• Knowledge of humanitarian and child protection principles and standards.
• Familiarity with the legal framework concerning asylum seekers, refugees, and human rights.
• Strong teamwork skills.
• Social and intercultural competence and sensitivity.
• Ability to work under pressure, demonstrating adaptability and initiative.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
• Computer proficiency.
• Work authorization for Greece or the European Union.

Preferred Qualifications

• Postgraduate degree in Legal, Social, Humanitarian, or Educational Sciences.
• Experience working with migrants in Greece or other migration contexts.
• Familiarity with ethics and management of sensitive data.
• Volunteer experience.
• Driver's license.
