Role Overview
This fixed-term role based in Hawke's Bay offers an opportunity to contribute meaningful support to disabled people, helping them develop daily living skills, pursue personal goals, and engage actively within their communities. The position emphasizes a "do with, not for" ethos, fostering independence and confidence.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in building daily living and independence skills
- Promote community engagement and foster meaningful relationships
- Provide personal care, support with household tasks, meal preparation, and routine management
- Help individuals achieve goals and acquire new skills
- Apply Behaviour Support strategies with attention to wellbeing
- Collaborate with whānau, coworkers, and professionals
- Keep precise records and documentation
- Work full-time (73.75 hours fortnightly) including varied shifts such as weekends, sleepovers, wakeovers, and public holidays

Required Qualifications and Experience
- Possess a Level 3 or 4 New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing or equivalent
- Hold a valid full New Zealand Driver’s Licence
- Experience assisting people with disabilities and/or mental health needs
- Proficiency in Positive Behaviour Support, behaviour adjustment, and skill development techniques
- Commitment to person-centred approaches embracing empowerment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace applications
- Capability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams
- Legal entitlement to work in New Zealand
Salary and Contract Details
Compensation ranges from $27.48 to $29.68 per hour, depending on qualifications. This fixed-term contract lasts until June 7, 2027.
