About Kiwibank Customer Protection Team
Kiwibank's Customer Protection team dedicates itself to safeguarding customers against financial crime. Our Fraud Investigators actively uncover and inhibit fraudulent activities, fostering trust and a sense of security for those banking with us.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle fraud case management to lessen the impact of financial crimes on customers and the bank.
- Conduct in-depth investigations into complex activities by analyzing customer accounts and behaviors across services including internet banking, credit cards, and lending.
- Compile comprehensive investigation reports and align efforts with Kiwibank branches, law enforcement, and other parties to aid prosecution processes where necessary.
- Drive continuous improvements by leveraging your insights to enhance fraud detection systems, processes, and procedures.
- Work collaboratively with frontline teams and stakeholders within Kiwibank to support customers and meet team service level agreements (SLAs).
Contract Details and Work Schedule
This position is offered as a one-year fixed term contract. Work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. Locations include Auckland, Hastings, Wellington, and Christchurch, with hybrid working arrangements.

Desired Skills and Experience
- Preferably previous experience in police service or fraud investigation roles within large corporations or banking institutions.
- Solid knowledge of the financial services sector, including fraud prevention, anti-money laundering frameworks, and relevant legislation.
- Familiarity with fraud detection technologies, SQL, and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Ability to detect irregularities, recognize patterns, and approach fraud identification creatively.
- Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail for managing evidential files and documentation.
- Excellent communication abilities for building relationships with customers and internal stakeholders.
