Position Overview

The Executive Vice President (EVP) of Finance is a senior leadership role accountable for orchestrating the company’s overarching financial strategy, ensuring stellar financial performance, managing capital planning, mitigating risks, and overseeing corporate finance operations. This executive position emphasizes elevating financial outcomes, optimizing how capital is allocated, maximizing profitability, controlling financial risks, assisting strategic expansion initiatives, and aligning financial decisions with long-term corporate objectives.

Reporting to the CEO, CFO, or board of directors, the EVP will collaborate closely with executive leadership, board members, investors, lenders, finance leaders, and business unit heads to deliver strategic financial guidance that supports sustainable growth. Depending on structural hierarchy, this role might supervise multiple functions including corporate finance, FP&A, treasury, accounting, controllership, tax, investor relations, corporate development, and financial risk management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead development and execution of comprehensive financial strategies aligned with corporate goals.
  • Provide leadership across finance-related functions such as planning, treasury, accounting, and reporting.
  • Define financial performance standards, KPIs, and accountability mechanisms.
  • Advise executive teams and the board on strategic financial matters to promote growth and enterprise value.
  • Drive strong financial discipline throughout the company’s operations.
  • Manage annual budgeting, forecasting, long-range planning, and financial modeling.
  • Monitor and analyze revenue, profitability, expenses, cash flow, and financial outcomes across units.
  • Develop executive dashboard systems and comprehensive financial reports.
  • Identify financial trends, gaps, and opportunities with actionable recommendations for performance improvements.
  • Craft and implement capital allocation, investment evaluations, and resource optimization strategies.
  • Evaluate capital expenditures, strategic investments, mergers, and other significant ventures considering returns and risks.
  • Oversee treasury operations, cash flow management, working capital optimization, and banking relationships.
  • Lead profitability enhancement initiatives, cost reduction efforts, and operational efficiency programs.
  • Establish and maintain financial governance, controls, and risk management frameworks ensuring compliance and audit readiness.
  • Support corporate development including mergers & acquisitions, joint ventures, and investment transactions.
  • Facilitate transparent communication of financial performance to investors, lenders, and stakeholders.
  • Lead and build a high-performing finance team, foster leadership development and succession planning.
  • Cultivate a culture emphasizing accountability, analytical insight, and strategic collaboration across departments.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum of 18 years progressive leadership experience in corporate finance, financial planning and analysis, treasury, accounting, or executive finance roles.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing large, complex finance organizations and enterprise-wide strategies.
  • Demonstrated ability to enhance profitability, optimize capital allocation, and drive sustainable business growth.
  • Expertise in budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, cash management, risk mitigation, and strategic finance.
  • Experience liaising with CEOs, CFOs, boards, investors, lenders, and senior executives.
  • Strong knowledge of corporate finance principles, financial reporting, capital markets, valuation techniques, and governance practices.
  • Preferred background includes working in complex, global, multi-business environments or rapidly growing companies.
