Role Overview

The Executive Vice President of Business Development is a senior executive position charged with shaping enterprise growth. The role centers on strategic partnerships, geographic and sector expansion, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and the creation of new business opportunities.

Working closely with the CEO and other top leaders, this executive connects long-term corporate priorities with commercial opportunities and investment decisions.

Business Development and Growth Strategy

  • Set and direct the organization’s global business development and expansion agenda.
  • Spot promising opportunities across markets, industries, and regions.
  • Convert company strategy into practical growth programs.
  • Work with the CEO and leadership team to define long-range growth goals.
  • Create scalable models for revenue and market expansion.

Mergers, Acquisitions, and Investments

  • Guide acquisition strategy, target screening, and deal ranking.
  • Oversee due diligence for acquisitions and divestitures.
  • Assess strategic, financial, and operational alignment of potential transactions.
  • Contribute to negotiations on deal terms and transaction structure.
  • Coordinate integration planning after a merger with finance and operations teams.
  • Review strategic investments, minority positions, and venture opportunities.
  • Support corporate venture and innovation-focused investment efforts.
  • Align capital use with long-term business development goals.
  • Partner with finance teams on valuation and return-on-investment analysis.

Partnerships, Alliances, and Market Expansion

  • Build and manage strategic alliances and joint ventures with high-value partners.
  • Develop relationships with industry leaders, public-sector bodies, and institutional stakeholders.
  • Negotiate durable commercial agreements and collaboration structures.
  • Broaden partnership ecosystems to support innovation and market entry.
  • Strengthen supply chain, distribution, and technology relationships where relevant.
  • Assess and pursue opportunities in new domestic and international markets.
  • Lead go-to-market planning for new regions and customer segments.
  • Develop new business lines and additional revenue streams.
  • Review competitive conditions and market movements.
  • Support the scale-up of emerging business units and pilot initiatives.

Revenue, Commercial, and Stakeholder Leadership

  • Lead enterprise-wide initiatives aimed at revenue growth.

Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a closely related field is required. An MBA or another advanced qualification is strongly preferred.

The ideal candidate brings 15 to 20+ years of progressive leadership experience in business development, corporate strategy, M&A, or executive management. Experience in international markets, complex organizations, large-scale partnerships, and revenue growth is essential, along with strong executive-level negotiation and deal-making capability.
