Overview

This role is ideal for candidates with a proven track record in managing long-term care, assisted living, healthcare, senior housing, or independent living communities. The Executive Director will oversee community relations, resident and family engagement, financial success, and regulatory adherence at Avamere at Park Place, located in Portland, OR. The position requires leadership to foster an inclusive culture providing excellent resident experiences while growing the facility's revenue and profitability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage operations across independent, memory care, and assisted living sectors, engaging with staff, residents, prospects, and families as needed.
  • Develop and implement business strategies aimed at becoming the area's preferred senior living community; prepare and manage annual budgets to meet care quality and financial goals.
  • Strengthen teamwork by building collaborative relationships with leadership and cultivating an inclusive culture.
  • Empower department leaders to effectively supervise and motivate teams, addressing issues proactively and maintaining accountability.
  • Provide training and mentorship to staff and leaders to ensure competence and development.
  • Ensure facility staffing complies with resident needs and state/federal regulations.
  • Support recruitment, development, and retention of quality staff per company policies.
  • Oversee staff training and development plans, including hiring, promotions, disciplinary actions, and terminations.
  • Analyze workforce trends to reduce turnover and improve retention.
  • Maintain high resident satisfaction and retention through accessibility, problem resolution, and engagement.
  • Monitor resident relations, addressing issues promptly and leveraging positive feedback to boost occupancy.
  • Administer resident satisfaction surveys and collaborate on improvement plans.
  • Work closely with the Director of Health Services to ensure appropriate care and services.
  • Oversee resident services encompassing admissions, healthcare management, and documentation compliance.
  • Ensure timely and compliant service plan reviews involving clinical teams and families.
  • Apply financial expertise to develop and manage budgets, proactively addressing revenue and expense challenges while adhering to policies and regulations.
  • Drive sales and marketing efforts alongside community sales leadership to meet revenue and occupancy goals.
  • Engage prospects, analyze trends, and implement approved marketing strategies.
  • Build and maintain relationships with local influencers and community organizations to raise the facility’s profile.
  • Represent Avamere to government agencies, professional bodies, and community groups.
  • Maintain facility standards for buildings and grounds through preventative maintenance and regular inspections.
  • Be available on-call during after-hours and weekends.

Qualifications

  • Preferably holds a bachelor's or higher degree in public health, healthcare administration, or business.
  • Must possess a valid Resident Care Facility Administrator license for Oregon.
  • At least two years of leadership experience in memory care, resident care, or assisted living settings preferred.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain active CPR/First Aid Certification.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively engage residents, families, staff, vendors, and the public.
  • Proven leadership skills characterized by credibility, discipline, consistency, and team orientation.
  • Experience managing financial reports and budgets.
  • Experience in operations and staffing management.
  • Capability to supervise employees with independent judgment.
  • Proficient in daily computer tasks including email, document drafting, and data entry.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Compassionate with a desire to work with the elderly, fostering a warm, patient, enthusiastic, and calm environment.
  • Minimum education of high school diploma or equivalent.
