Job Overview
The Executive Director at Arete Grande Ronde Retirement in La Grande, OR, is responsible for overseeing community relations, ensuring resident satisfaction and family engagement, monitoring financial health, and maintaining regulatory compliance. The position involves creating and implementing business strategies that promote the facility as a preferred senior living destination, while driving revenue growth and profitability together with the facility team. Building an inclusive community culture focused on delivering excellent resident care and experiences is central to the role.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all daily operations across independent living, memory care, and assisted living units, maintaining direct interactions with staff, residents, prospects, and families as needed.
- Develop and execute business plans to establish the facility as a local market leader, create and monitor annual budgets, and manage community performance against targets to enhance resident care quality and financial outcomes.
- Foster strong collaboration and teamwork within the management team and promote an inclusive community culture.
- Empower department leaders to direct staff effectively, resolve issues proactively, and hold them accountable for performance.
- Provide ongoing training and mentorship to leaders and staff.
- Ensure adequate staffing that meets resident needs and complies with state and federal regulations.
- Assist in attracting, developing, engaging, and retaining quality staff consistent with company policies.
- Oversee staff training and development to meet resident care requirements.
- Review personnel decisions including promotions, development plans, disciplinary actions, and terminations to maintain staffing quality.
- Analyze workforce trends, implement strategies to reduce turnover and enhance retention.
- Build high levels of resident satisfaction and retention by proactively addressing concerns and fostering positive relationships.
- Handle resident relations by being accessible and responsive to residents and their families, resolving issues promptly.
- Lead initiatives to leverage satisfied residents and families for occupancy growth.
- Administer resident satisfaction surveys and collaborate with department leaders on improvement plans.
- Collaborate with the Director of Health Services to ensure appropriate resident care and services are provided.
- Supervise resident services including admissions, healthcare management, and documentation, ensuring compliance with policies and regulations.
- Ensure regular service plan reviews with clinical staff and families to uphold resident dignity.
- Apply strong financial management skills to analyze and manage budgets, aiming to meet or surpass revenue, profitability, and occupancy goals.
- Develop contingency plans for unexpected costs or revenue gaps and pursue ongoing opportunities for revenue growth and cost savings.
- Drive sales and marketing strategies jointly with the community sales leader to achieve occupancy and revenue targets through lead generation and relationship building.
- Engage with prospective residents and identify market trends to inform marketing activities.
- Establish connections with local influencers and community groups to enhance the facility's reputation and community involvement.
- Represent the facility to government agencies, professional organizations, and civic groups.
- Oversee maintenance of buildings and properties to meet company standards through regular inspections and preventive programs.
- Be available for on-call duties after hours and on weekends.
Required Qualifications
- Preferred bachelor's degree or higher in public health, healthcare administration, business, or related fields.
- Licensure as a Resident Care Facility Administrator in the State of Oregon is mandatory.
- Minimum of two years leadership experience in memory care, resident care, or assisted living facilities preferred.
- Must obtain and maintain active CPR/First Aid Certification during employment.
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with residents, families, staff, vendors, and the public.
- Exceptional leadership qualities including coaching, mentoring, credibility, consistency, discipline, and a team-oriented approach.
- Experience with financial reporting and budget management.
- Proven operational and staffing management capabilities.
- Ability to supervise employees with independent judgment and discretion.
- Computer proficiency in daily tasks including email, document management, and data entry.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Compassion and genuine desire to work with elderly populations.
- Ability to foster a warm, patient, enthusiastic, calm, and cheerful environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.

Work Schedule and Location
This is a full-time, onsite position with a Monday through Friday schedule based at Arete Grande Ronde Retirement, 1809 Gekeler Lane, La Grande, OR 97850.
Compensation
Annual salary ranges between $110,000 and $120,000 depending on experience.
