Job description

Role Purpose

The Grade V Executive Assistant offers extensive administrative and secretarial assistance, playing a key part in the smooth functioning of the Chief Operations Officer's office.

This position demands superior organizational abilities, meticulous attention to detail, and the capacity to maintain discretion and professionalism at all times.

The incumbent will manage diary coordination, organize meetings, handle documentation, and oversee correspondence to ensure an efficient schedule for the Chief Operations Officer.

Essential Qualifications

  • At least three years' administrative experience in a busy office setting.
  • At least one year of recent experience in healthcare, public sector, or a similarly regulated environment in a senior administrative capacity.
  • OR at least one year of current experience as a Personal Assistant or Executive Assistant supporting a senior executive or board member.

Desirable Attributes

  • A relevant third-level qualification equivalent to at least level 6 on the National Qualifications Framework from QQI in administration, business, or related areas.
  • Familiarity with Irish health service administrative procedures (such as HSE or Department of Health).
  • Experience supporting senior leaders or executives.

Important Onboarding Information

Children's Health Ireland has standardized new employee start dates to one commencement day per month to facilitate smooth onboarding aligned with payroll schedules and the new corporate induction program.

New hires must complete all mandatory training at least 7 days before their official start date; failure to do so will result in a deferred start to the next available date.

Available start dates for 2026 are as follows:

  • 7th September
  • 5th October
  • 2nd November
  • 7th December
