Job description
About the Role
The International Baccalaureate® (IB) is a global non-profit educational foundation that offers four comprehensive international academic programs aimed at fostering critical intellectual, personal, emotional, and social skills among students. These programs prepare learners to thrive and contribute in an increasingly interconnected world. The IB emphasizes creating students who demonstrate intercultural understanding and respect, contributing towards making a better world.
Within the IB Diploma Programme, students are required to select one of three Language A courses as part of the six subjects needed to earn the diploma. These courses aim to enhance students' social, cultural, and aesthetic literacy along with effective communication skills. The Language A: Literature course, delivered in multiple languages including Basque, introduces students to the critical analysis of literary texts. The program supports mother-tongue entitlement and is available in 55 languages by default and in additional languages upon request, provided the literature is sufficiently developed in written form.
Key Responsibilities
- Designing and administering examination papers for the Basque A: Literature course.
- Evaluating and marking student examinations accurately and consistently.
- Making decisions regarding students' final grades on the Basque A: Literature assessments.
Additional Information
This role is focused on contract-based onsite work located in Cardiff, Wales, United Kingdom. The position requires expertise in Basque literature and high standards of academic assessment practices aligned with the IB's educational philosophy.
