International GCSE Mathematics Examiner (2016 Specification)

Role Overview

The International GCSE Mathematics Examiner is responsible for evaluating candidates' responses according to a detailed mark scheme, ensuring all marking standards and examination protocols are strictly followed. Most assessments are conducted digitally via ePEN from home; however, some subjects may still require traditional paper-based marking. Examination requires a thorough mastery of subject matter to accurately apply marking criteria. Each examiner is assigned a set number of scripts to mark.

Key Responsibilities

• Consistently and accurately mark candidate scripts to uphold high-quality standards
• Submit sample markings to the Team Leader within allocated deadlines
• Adhere to all marking milestones and schedules
• Complete all administrative tasks as instructed

Experience and Qualifications

• At least one academic year of teaching experience within the last eight years
• Teaching experience must be in the relevant qualification subject area
• Experience gained after formal teaching qualification
• A degree or equivalent qualification
• Qualified teacher status

Required Competencies

• Capacity to work effectively under pressure
• Ability to meet all specified deadlines
• Strong expertise in subject matter to ensure precise application of the mark scheme

Additional Details

• Marking period occurs annually from May to July
• Mandatory training sessions for examiners are conducted between May and June
