Overview

This role is specifically open to applicants residing outside the UK. Positions can be conducted either remotely or via in-person contracts. Applicants located within the UK are encouraged to seek the corresponding positions designated for the UK.

The Standards Verifier is pivotal in safeguarding the uniformity and credibility of vocational qualifications by verifying that assessment and internal quality control processes adhere strictly to national criteria. The individual provides expert subject-related guidance to educational centres, executes sample audits and verification tasks, delivers detailed, constructive critiques, and aids in refining quality assurance mechanisms. Engaging continuously with internal teams and educational centres through training and cooperation plays a key role in maintaining Pearson's dedication to trustworthy, high-standard assessments.

  • Promptly report any malpractice, malpractice concerns, or safeguarding issues
  • Meet deadlines and perform duties diligently
  • Maintain confidentiality concerning centres and learners
  • Ensure personal computing equipment supports required software and secure communication, using a personal, secure email address (not work-related)
  • Communicate and cooperate effectively with Pearson teams

Specific Duties

  • Stay current with qualification specifications and applicable National Occupational Standards
  • Offer tailored expert advice and support consistent with verification requirements
  • Complete all mandatory training and annual standardisation exercises punctually
  • Perform centre visits for verification when required and approved
  • Adhere to prescribed quality assurance processes and sampling strategies
  • Examine learner submissions and internal verification documents for accuracy and adherence
  • Confirm assessment decisions are valid, uniform, and meet national benchmarks
  • Provide constructive feedback and assistance during assessments
  • Compile detailed, actionable reports for each centre visit
  • Clearly communicate when standards are deficient and outline corrective steps
  • Support centres in resolving issues and sustaining compliance
  • Identify relevant learner work and assessment materials for future training and standardisation efforts
  • Maintain routine communication with Pearson supervisors and internal teams
  • Adopt a proactive stance towards quality assurance and uphold Pearson's high standards

Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience: Demonstrated ability or background in quality assurance and assessment practices
  • At least two full academic years teaching experience in the relevant subject or sector within the last eight years and/or substantial expertise in Pearson assessments, quality procedures, and national standards within five years
  • Experience in verifying regulated qualifications is essential
  • Strong communication skills and capability to conduct training such as standardisation activities
  • Comprehensive knowledge of sector-specific qualification standards
  • Prior leadership or support roles in critical quality assurance functions
