Job description
Role Overview
The role involves evaluating candidates' responses for the International A-Level English Language exam according to a detailed mark scheme while adhering to examination protocols and recognition standards. Most marking is performed digitally via ePEN from home, although some subjects still require marking on physical scripts sent through the post. A thorough subject knowledge is essential for accurate application of the marking criteria. Each examiner is assigned a specific batch of scripts for assessment.
Key Responsibilities
- Mark answers precisely and consistently to uphold overall quality standards.
- Submit sample markings to the Team Leader within designated deadlines.
- Meet marking milestones and schedule requirements.
- Complete all required administrative tasks as specified.
Experience and Qualifications
- Possess at least one academic year of teaching experience within the last eight years.
- Experience must relate to the relevant subject and qualification.
- Hold a degree or equivalent qualification.
Competencies
- Ability to perform effectively under pressure.
- Strong time management to meet deadlines.
- Comprehensive subject knowledge to apply the marking scheme accurately.
Additional Information
- The marking period runs from May to July each year.
- Training to become an examiner occurs between May and June.
