About the Role

Wellstar Health System is seeking an Environmental Services Floor Technician to support its mission of improving the health and well-being of the people it serves. This evening shift position plays an important part in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment across assigned areas.

Core Duties

The position covers the full scope of routine, terminal, and isolation cleaning. It also includes daily upkeep and major restoration of hard floors and carpeted surfaces in line with department standards and Wellstar policies. Cleaning tasks are completed using the step process in assigned locations.

Additional project work may involve cleaning walls, entryways, shared spaces, windows, vents, sidewalks, and similar areas as assigned. The role requires strict adherence to all system and department procedures.

Waste Handling and Specialized Tasks

Responsibilities include the correct removal, sorting, transport, and placement of waste and regulated materials, including solid waste, chemotherapy waste, biohazard waste, pharmaceutical waste, hot waste, recyclables, and other controlled materials. The role also involves proper use of ultraviolet light equipment and the replacement or exchange of containers such as sharps, pharmacy waste, biohazard, and chemotherapy containers.

Customer Service Expectations

This is a highly visible role that requires strong interpersonal and customer service skills. The incumbent must interact professionally with staff, visitors, patients, and family members while maintaining respectful working relationships. Team members will receive training and authorization for duties within their assigned areas.
