Job description
Role overview
Player 15 Group is the sports and entertainment organization behind the Phoenix Suns, Phoenix Mercury, Valley Suns, and Mortgage Matchup Center. Based in downtown Phoenix, the company is shaped by a culture centered on passion, creativity, innovation, and care. The team works in a fast-moving, collaborative setting where each person helps deliver memorable experiences for fans, partners, and the community.
The organization is looking for an experienced and driven part-time Event Security Officer to support the safety, security, and overall experience of guests at Mortgage Matchup Center. This role helps protect the arena, its property, employees, and visitors by following established security policies and procedures.
What the role involves
A strong customer service mindset is a major part of this position. Event security staff act as helpful points of contact for guests, answering questions, offering directions, and greeting people as they enter and leave events. Much of the shift is spent screening bags with x-ray equipment for restricted items and managing guest movement through walk-through metal detectors, using hand wands when needed.
- Deliver a high level of guest service and look for ways to improve the visitor experience.
- Understand the arena layout well enough to guide guests and provide assistance, including during emergencies.
- React promptly and accurately to incidents while staying professional, composed, and consistent.
- Enforce arena policies and procedures, maintain order, and support all safety rules.
- Answer guest questions in a courteous and professional manner.
- Help monitor and control crowd movement during events to support overall safety.
- Check credentials to manage access to restricted areas.
- Prepare clear, concise incident reports.
- Patrol the arena and respond to alarms or emergency situations inside and outside the venue.
Skills and experience
The ideal candidate brings strong guest-service skills, a friendly and outgoing manner, and solid verbal communication abilities. This role also calls for teamwork, a calm and focused approach, good judgment in tense situations, and the ability to learn and remember the layout of Mortgage Matchup Center. Flexibility to work in different posts or locations based on business needs is also important.
A high school diploma is required, and applicants must be at least 18 years old. Prior customer service experience in a busy, fast-paced environment is preferred, and familiarity with Microsoft Office products is recommended.
Team culture
The company emphasizes an in-person, collaborative, people-first environment where team members feel supported, empowered, and connected. It values people who take ownership, show initiative, and bring a practical “I’ll do it” attitude to help the team and serve fans well. The workplace is designed to support growth and create an environment people enjoy coming to each day.
Benefits and perks
Benefits may vary depending on employment status and eligibility, and can include medical, dental, vision, life, and disability coverage options; paid vacation, sick time, volunteer time, and company holidays; a 401(k) plan with company matching; team experiences such as offsites, catered lunches, coffee stands, and ice cream trucks; team swag and employee discounts at the team shop and online store; complimentary tickets to Phoenix Suns, Phoenix Mercury, and Valley Suns games as well as other local sporting events and concerts when available; and access to amenities such as a full fitness center with locker rooms and showers, indoor and outdoor basketball courts, a pickleball court, a golf simulator and putting green, plus an on-site cafeteria and collaborative gathering spaces.
Equal opportunity and additional notes
Player 15 Group is committed to building a diverse workforce and considers qualified applicants without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, veteran status, or disability.
