Job description
Role overview
Player 15 Group is the sports and entertainment organization behind the Phoenix Suns, Phoenix Mercury, Valley Suns, and Mortgage Matchup Center. Based in downtown Phoenix, the company is guided by a culture centered on passion, creativity, innovation, and care. The environment is fast-moving and collaborative, with a strong focus on delivering memorable experiences for fans, partners, and the surrounding community.
The organization is hiring a strategic Director of Revenue Marketing & Fan Development to shape marketing programs that grow ticket revenue, bring in new fans, strengthen retention, and increase engagement. Reporting to the Senior Director, Marketing, this leader will guide the Revenue Marketing and Fan Development teams and build a data-led approach that supports both near-term sales goals and long-term fan loyalty.
The position is responsible for creating integrated marketing plans that improve ticket performance, expand the fan database, strengthen paid media results, and support broader brand priorities across the organization.
Revenue and performance marketing leadership
- Build and lead marketing strategies that use data to increase single-game ticket revenue, attract new fans, and grow the database.
- Direct performance marketing activity across paid channels, including digital, traditional, and newer platforms.
- Work closely with Ticket Sales, Business Intelligence, and Ticket Operations to ensure campaigns reflect inventory, demand patterns, and revenue goals.
- Create and refine full-funnel campaigns that move prospects toward purchase while increasing engagement among current fans.
- Own campaign tracking, attribution, audience segmentation, and performance review to improve efficiency and return on investment.
- Oversee marketing support for ticketing products such as single-game tickets, memberships, premium seating, suites, group sales, and retention programs.
- Lead fan development initiatives that expand the audience and encourage long-term engagement.
Fan development and strategic growth
- Lead the Fan Development team in designing programs that improve acquisition, engagement, retention, and customer lifetime value.
- Use research, consumer insights, and analytics to spot audience opportunities and guide marketing decisions.
- Partner with creative, content, social, partnerships, merchandise, and community teams to deliver connected campaigns and fan experiences.
- Develop multicultural and emerging-audience initiatives that broaden reach and strengthen fan relationships.
- Assess and adopt new technologies, tools, trends, and platforms that improve fan engagement and revenue outcomes.
Brand marketing support
- Contribute to broader brand campaigns that build affinity and reinforce cultural relevance for the Phoenix Suns.
- Coordinate with brand marketing leadership so revenue-focused campaigns match the organization’s voice, positioning, and creative standards.
- Help shape integrated messaging, creative direction, and promotional platforms that support organizational priorities.
Team leadership and operations
- Manage the daily work, growth, and performance of the Performance Marketing and Fan Development teams.
- Coach and mentor team members while supporting their professional development.
- Create a culture that is collaborative, innovative, accountable, and committed to continuous improvement.
- Handle agency partnerships and media-buying relationships to support effective planning, execution, and optimization.
Skills and experience
The ideal candidate brings strong experience in performance marketing, revenue marketing, fan development, or growth marketing, ideally in sports or entertainment. Experience in team environments is strongly preferred.
This role calls for someone who has built and run data-driven marketing campaigns tied to revenue and customer acquisition, especially in ticket sales. A strong grasp of paid media strategy, audience targeting, CRM and lifecycle marketing, attribution, and marketing analytics is important.
The successful candidate should be comfortable leading cross-functional work, translating data and consumer insights into action, and operating effectively in a high-pressure live-event setting. Excellent communication, presentation, organization, and problem-solving skills are essential.
Membership, loyalty, or fan engagement experience is considered an advantage. The role also requires a self-starting mindset, close attention to detail, and the ability to manage several priorities at once. Support may be needed during evenings, weekends, game nights, and arena events.
Education and experience requirements
- High school diploma or GED is required; a bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- At least 8 years of leadership experience in marketing, performance marketing, revenue marketing, fan development, or a related field.
- Experience managing integrated campaigns and coordinating work across multiple functions.
Work environment
The team values an in-person, collaborative, people-first environment where team members are supported, empowered, and connected. An ownership mindset, initiative, and a hands-on approach are highly valued.
The organization aims to create a workplace where people enjoy coming in each day and can grow professionally while contributing to the success of the teams and fans.
