Role overview
This opportunity is shared on behalf of a partner organization that handles the application review and all subsequent hiring steps. The partner is seeking a Europe Communications Lead who is based in Italy.
You will join a forward-looking communications function working at the intersection of artificial intelligence and emerging technologies. The role focuses on building and delivering communications strategies across Europe, strengthening relationships with media, industry influencers, and other important stakeholders. A major part of the job is turning complex technical developments into clear, engaging stories while safeguarding and enhancing the organization’s reputation. You will work closely with teams across research, product, legal, marketing, and leadership to ensure messaging is aligned and impactful across multiple markets. This role is suited to a seasoned communications professional who performs well in fast-moving environments and enjoys shaping public perception around innovative technologies.
Key responsibilities
- Design and implement wide-ranging communications plans for European markets that improve brand visibility and support reputation building.
- Drive media relations efforts, including outreach to journalists, briefing sessions, press announcements, interviews, spokesperson preparation, and reputation-focused communication.
- Develop and sustain strong connections with journalists, editors, event organizers, researchers, and other influential stakeholders across Europe.
- Localize communications strategies so they reflect the cultural, political, and social context of different European countries and regions.
- Partner with teams in marketing, product, research, engineering, legal, policy, partnerships, and safety to keep communications priorities and messaging aligned.
- Prepare executive-level communication materials such as talking points, FAQs, press releases, partnership announcements, investment-related updates, and market expansion announcements.
- Coordinate regional speaking opportunities, awards submissions and programs, executive visibility, and company events in collaboration with global communications colleagues.
- Track industry developments, spot storytelling opportunities, and translate technical advances into messaging that is understandable and compelling for broad audiences.
Requirements
- At least 7 years of experience in communications, public relations, or corporate communications, either in agencies or in high-growth technology companies.
- Demonstrated success in building trusted relationships with leading media outlets and journalists across Europe.
- Strong knowledge of both conventional and newer media channels, including research publications, technical communities, podcasts, and digital creators.
- Excellent ability to simplify highly technical or scientific ideas into messaging that is clear and persuasive for different audiences.
- Strong writing, speaking, and presentation capabilities, with experience creating communications for executives.
- Proven skill in managing several priorities at once while staying detail-oriented and meeting deadlines.
- Experience collaborating across technical and business teams in fast-paced, changing environments.
- Strong strategic judgment, stakeholder management, and problem-solving abilities.
- Comfort working independently as part of a fully remote, globally distributed team.
