Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Estimator specialized in structured cabling to support our sales and project teams by developing engineering solutions, producing accurate estimates, and assisting with daily sales and project operations. The role includes defining scope, selecting materials, and determining labor costs for bids.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Deliver comprehensive project engineering and material selection, creating detailed cost estimates aligned with bid requirements.
  • Support sales by attending site walks and pre-bid meetings, documenting site conditions for engineering design.
  • Serve as a communication link between sales, project management, and operations during project handover, ensuring estimate accuracy aligns with installation costs.
  • Follow company guidelines for vendor and product selection to secure competitive pricing and appropriate lead times.
  • Perform floor plan takeoffs and apply company-recommended solutions and technical standards.
  • Maintain adherence to quality and safety standards in all engineering tasks.
  • Participate in training sessions to stay current on technical and company requirements.
  • Meet strict bid schedules and deadlines effectively.
  • Attend job turnover meetings to clarify project details and expectations.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • At least one year experience facilitating customer interactions and acting as a liaison is essential.
  • Experience in structured cabling and RCDD certification are advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project).
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, project documentation, and maintain high organizational standards while managing multiple projects.
  • Must be self-driven, positive, and able to contribute to process improvements.
  • Must meet company driving standards and be willing to travel within the regional territory as necessary.
  • Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication skills required.

  • Compensation ranges from $60,000 to $100,000 annually.
