Job description
About the Role
Prolific is a pioneering company developing the largest repository of high-quality human data globally to enhance AI development. Over 35,000 AI developers and researchers rely on this platform to acquire meaningful dataset contributions from paid participants with diverse experience and expertise.
We are currently inviting Environmental Researchers and Sustainability Specialists to become part of our Expert Network. In this capacity, you will help train and validate advanced AI models by applying real-world ecological and climate knowledge. Prospective candidates will undertake a brief 10-15 minute assessment testing their domain skills. Successful candidates will join Prolific as paid participants tasked with evaluating and enhancing AI models.
Job Responsibilities
- Analyze AI-generated research outputs focused on climate change, ecosystem services, and resource stewardship to verify scientific correctness and detailed nuance.
- Conduct fact-checking of AI-produced environmental data including emissions metrics, regulatory obligations, and protection standards.
- Evaluate proposed AI sustainability strategies, including waste minimization, supply chain ethics, and habitat rehabilitation for feasibility and scientific soundness.
- Annotate and correct geospatial data such as AI-generated maps, environmental hazard assessments, and species distribution projections.
- Ensure AI-generated responses correspond to current international environmental policies and scientific consensus, such as those from the IPCC.
Candidate Requirements
- A Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, Climate Science, Environmental Engineering, or a closely allied discipline.
- Professional expertise in environmental impact assessment, climate system modeling, conservation research, or ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) reporting.
- Comprehensive knowledge of carbon footprint accounting, biodiversity metrics, renewable energy systems, or environmental policy frameworks.
- Strong analytical skills for detecting inaccuracies in climate data, ecological classifications, or carbon calculations.
- Experience interpreting satellite imagery, GIS data, and longitudinal environmental datasets with statistical insight.
- Outstanding communication skills allowing clear summarization of complex environmental regulations and scientific findings.
- A personal PayPal account to enable receipt of payments for completed tasks.
Compensation and Working Conditions
Environmental Researchers contributing to these AI training projects typically earn between $45 to $90 per hour. Tasks generally require one hour of focused, uninterrupted work, although many assignments may be shorter in duration. Participants benefit from highly competitive pay rates, flexible schedules, and the option to work remotely once onboarded.
