Job description
About the Programme
Join a small, world-class quantitative trading firm that leverages machine learning, neural networks, and advanced data engineering to power algorithmic trading strategies. Our Graduate Programme offers a unique opportunity to launch your career where technology, mathematics, sports, and financial markets intersect. This year's focus is on establishing a cutting-edge trading operation centered on emerging prediction markets in the UK and the rapidly expanding US sports market.
You will become part of a talented team of graduates working closely with seasoned quants, developers, and traders to create models, technology, and trading processes that capture opportunities in fast-evolving marketplaces. Unlike typical graduate schemes, you will work on live commercial products, directly addressing real-world challenges from day one.
Programme Content
Prediction markets present a novel environment for quantitative trading, with rapid innovation in exchanges, products, and market structures. Market prices fluctuate within milliseconds, liquidity may be dispersed, and equivalent outcomes might trade differently across multiple platforms. We focus on developing systems that both comprehend and trade these markets at scale.
From the very start, you will be entrusted with real responsibilities and tasks such as:
- Processing live sports, market, and pricing data
- Creating models to estimate probabilities and detect mispriced contracts
- Designing, developing, and refining high-frequency trading systems
- Evaluating strategy performance during testing and live trading
- Building tools to manage trading risk, capital allocation, and exposure
- Researching platforms, products, and markets to identify new opportunities
While structured guidance will help you grasp the core problems, you will be encouraged to explore, experiment, and innovate independently with support from the team.
Programme Structure
The programme spans 12 months and offers varied responsibilities that go beyond narrowly defined roles. Developers will gain market insights; traders will learn data interpretation; quantitative researchers will implement ideas into functioning technologies. The team blends software development, quantitative research, sports analytics, and trading, fostering collaborative problem-solving and continuous sharing of expertise.
As you progress, you will take on more ownership in areas that align with your strengths and interests. You do not need to have a fixed specialization at the start; the programme is designed to help you discover and develop your potential.
Successful participants will have the chance to secure long-term positions within the company after completing the programme.
Candidate Requirements
Specific prior experience is not mandatory. Whether you excel as a developer, mathematician, quantitative thinker, or a sports enthusiast with analytical skills, we value your approach to problem-solving.
While you do not need balanced expertise across software development, mathematics, and sports analysis, you should demonstrate strong competence in at least one discipline along with curiosity and adaptability to collaborate across areas.
- Strong analytical skills and a passion for tackling complex, unfamiliar problems
- Comfort working with large datasets and intricate systems
- Ability to independently translate concepts into practical solutions
- Enthusiasm to learn about the interplay of models, technology, and market dynamics
- Willingness to thrive in a fast-paced environment where precision and reliability are crucial, and to challenge assumptions constructively
Applicants must hold a bachelor's degree or higher in a quantitative field from a prestigious university and have the legal right to work in the UK or be able to obtain it.
Additionally, you should provide evidence of independent pursuit beyond formal education such as software development, research, model creation, entrepreneurial ventures, analytical projects, or any challenging problem you have engaged with, demonstrating your originality, curiosity, and ability to produce tangible outcomes.
