Job description
Role Overview
As an Environmental, Health and Safety Specialist at Cook Medical, you will play a pivotal role in fostering a safe and environmentally responsible workplace for all employees. This position reports to the Manager of Facilities and Environmental Health & Safety, providing expert guidance on occupational safety, ergonomics, and overall environmental health standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct risk assessments and implement suitable control measures to mitigate hazards.
- Develop, update, and enforce EHS procedures in alignment with regulations and company policies.
- Design and deliver training programs focused on environmental health and safety topics.
- Offer specialized advice to department managers on EHS matters pertinent to their operations.
- Ensure full compliance with statutory legislation and internal procedures, maintaining thorough records and reports.
- Coordinate environmental compliance efforts, including adherence to IPC license requirements.
- Liaise effectively with external regulatory bodies such as HSA and EPA to ensure ongoing compliance.
- Manage site environmental waste programs, driving continual improvement initiatives.
- Integrate Cook’s Code of Conduct into all business processes under your purview.
- Serve as the Facilities Manager’s delegate for change control reviews in accordance with Quality System Procedures.
- Implement and maintain ISO 14001 Environmental Management standards.
- Oversee procurement, supply, maintenance, and monitoring of personal protective and personal monitoring equipment, managing all related records.
- Analyze monitoring data and initiate corrective actions when necessary.
- Schedule and conduct EHS meetings and training sessions.
- Coordinate occupational vaccination and health surveillance programs in collaboration with Human Resources.
- Lead accident investigations and prepare detailed reports.
Candidate Profile
- Possession of relevant third-level qualifications or equivalent practical experience.
- Preferably three to four years of experience in a comparable manufacturing environment role.
- Proficient knowledge of IPC license compliance and environmental management systems.
- Familiarity with CE certification processes for equipment.
- Strong understanding of Occupational and Industrial hygiene principles.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality with discretion.
- Exceptional interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with computer software tools.
- Willingness and availability to travel for business purposes as required.
