About the Role
The Trust and Safety team at YouTube operates in a fast-moving, dynamic environment focused on ensuring the platform is secure for users, creators, and viewers worldwide. This team addresses online content issues, navigates legal parameters, and enforces policies that maintain a safe, expressive community. Your work will influence strategies to reduce harmful activities on the platform, introducing technological solutions and standards while balancing various operational demands. On-call weekend shifts are part of the role, and exposure to graphic or sensitive content during escalations is expected.
Responsibilities
- Conduct investigations into fraud and spam by analyzing diverse data sources, identifying platform weaknesses, and spearheading experiments aimed at mitigating abuse.
- Collaborate with engineers and cross-functional teams to enhance workflows through process optimization, automation, and creation of anti-abuse systems.
- Develop and optimize prompts for Large Language Models to increase their effectiveness in detecting and classifying harmful content using prompt engineering, labeling, and analytical techniques.
- Utilize advanced statistics to evaluate datasets, understand the influence of abuse on YouTube, and contribute to innovative workflow designs.
- Gain proficiency in relevant technical systems and apply them to produce impactful outcomes.
- Support quality assurance initiatives by delivering performance feedback to global teams and managing solutions to streamline training and maintain quality standards.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- At least one year of experience in data analysis, including trend identification, summarization, and insight extraction from both quantitative and qualitative sources.
- One year of project management experience encompassing scope definition, goal setting, and deliverable planning.
- At least one year familiarity with one or more programming languages such as SQL, R, Python, or C++.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in a quantitative field.
- One year of experience working with machine learning systems.
- Expertise in gathering, managing, and synthesizing data from multiple sources, statistical modeling, data mining, metrics analysis, experiment design, and automation.
- Strong communication abilities.
