About the Role
Gopuff is looking for an experienced Employee Relations Specialist II to join their People & Culture team. The selected candidate will act as a trusted advisor and domain expert, managing complex employee relations issues through thorough investigations, ensuring alignment with employment laws and company policies, and collaborating closely with leadership, People & Culture, and Legal teams to maintain a compliant, equitable, and inclusive workplace.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed investigations into complaints such as policy violations, workplace conditions, disciplinary matters, grievances, harassment, discrimination, and retaliation.
- Partner with stakeholders to determine the appropriate resolutions for employee relations cases.
- Document investigation results and prepare summaries to be stored within ThinkLP.
- Provide coaching and guidance to management at all levels in areas including performance management, corrective actions, policy interpretation, conflict resolution, and terminations.
- Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local employment laws; proactively identify emerging risks and collaborate with relevant teams for mitigation.
- Perform additional related duties as needed.
- Travel extensively—up to 90% of the time—to visit operational sites within the assigned region.
Qualifications
- 6 to 8 years of experience in human resources, with a minimum of 2 years focused on employee relations, investigations, and field operation support.
- Experience with California-based operations and familiarity with California employment regulations is required.
- Bachelor's degree is preferred.
- Proficiency in Spanish is a plus.
- Strong expertise in investigation techniques, including interviewing, evidence collection, and report writing, supported by a solid understanding of U.S. employment laws such as FMLA, ADA, EEO, and Title VII.
- Demonstrated ability to advise employees and management effectively through challenging employee relations scenarios and provide sound recommendations.
- Adept at cross-functional collaboration with multiple departments.
- Skilled at managing multiple tasks and prioritizing workload efficiently.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities, with a capability to foster trust, show emotional intelligence, and handle sensitive information confidentially.
- Strong analytical and conflict resolution skills with a history of making unbiased, well-informed decisions under pressure.
- Competent in computer usage including email and Google Suite applications.
Compensation and Benefits
- The position offers a base salary between $90,000 and $120,000, dependent on location, skills, experience, and qualifications.
