Role overview
This opportunity is for two Emotional Health and Wellbeing Practitioners to join a supportive, adaptable team working with children and young people in care. The posts focus on helping Dorset HealthCare meet its responsibilities to improve outcomes for children in care and care leavers.
What the role involves
You will support the emotional wellbeing needs of children and work in close partnership with social workers, CAMHS, and the CIC Health team. The role includes delivering brief, evidence-based interventions for the Children in Care cohort after a referral has been received.
The post is based mainly in Dorset, with travel across the Pan-Dorset area. It is a permanent position of 37.5 hours per week.
Key practice areas
- Provide intervention at the Getting Help stage of the Thrive model.
- Offer specialist care, assessments, and ongoing management for people on your caseload within a multi-disciplinary team.
- Deliver person-centred support that protects safety, privacy, and dignity.
- Share expert advice with colleagues on care and management approaches.
- Develop specialist care programmes for other professionals to carry out and check that they are followed properly.
- Plan, deliver, and review health improvement work across different settings.
- Support, supervise, mentor, and train other team members.
