Role overview
Bloomberg News is looking for a seasoned reporter to join its Asia Macro Markets team in Singapore. The position focuses on emerging markets coverage across Southeast Asia, with an emphasis on fixed income, foreign exchange, short-term interest rates, capital flows, and the links between markets, economics, and geopolitics.
This is a fast-moving reporting role centered on delivering timely market coverage, sharp analysis, and enterprise stories for both regional and global readers. You will be expected to explain what is driving Asia’s emerging markets and why it matters, while also developing deeper context-rich stories that place local market moves in a broader regional and international setting.

Responsibilities
- Report on Asia’s emerging markets with clear authority, including bonds, currencies, and short-term interest rates.
- Cover both immediate market moves and the wider implications behind them for investors and policymakers.
- Build and maintain a strong network of market sources, including traders, investors, and other participants, to support breaking news and deeper reporting.
- Track and explain major themes in currencies, rates, and related asset classes, drawing on insights across the markets and Bloomberg newsroom.
- Produce quick, accurate stories on price action and new developments.
- Develop larger analytical or enterprise pieces that connect individual country markets to regional and global trends.
- Interview prominent figures in the emerging markets ecosystem, including market leaders, government officials, and policy thinkers.
- Work closely with editors and reporters across local and international teams.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 recent years of experience reporting on financial markets.
- Background in a real-time news environment.
- Prior reporting experience in at least one of the following areas: currencies, bonds, equities, economics, or politics.
- Strong source-building skills across traders, investors, major money managers, government officials, and policymakers.
- Ability to identify story angles, interpret data, and turn complex topics into engaging narratives.
- Collaborative mindset, willingness to innovate, and a strong work ethic.
- Excellent spoken and written English.
- Ability to deliver fast, accurate, and engaging copy.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification.
- Evidence of sustained career growth within an organization.
