We are currently seeking a motivated Managing Editor to lead our Australia and New Zealand news coverage. This critical leadership position within our Asia-Pacific newsroom involves nurturing a culture committed to breaking scoops and encouraging inventive enterprise, making our news a fundamental part of influential conversations in the ANZ region.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee editorial quality and ensure prompt, high-standard news production throughout Australia and New Zealand.
- Manage daily news workflows, coordinating efforts among breaking news, enterprise, and corporate news teams.
- Expand corporate coverage by pinpointing key figures and trends relevant to our audience.
- Motivate journalists and editors to pursue unique, agenda-setting stories with international significance.
- Provide mentorship to journalists to improve their reporting, writing, and analytical thinking.
- Make rapid, sound editorial decisions, particularly in high-pressure or uncertain situations.
- Act as the editorial liaison for Australia and New Zealand, collaborating extensively with regional and global teams.
Candidate Requirements
- A minimum of seven years' recent experience in financial journalism.
- At least three years of leadership experience managing newsroom teams.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively across diverse teams and regions.
- Exceptional editing skills, capable of refining both urgent breaking news and in-depth long-form articles.
- A record of consistent career advancement within media organizations.
- Strong organizational abilities and adeptness at managing multiple priorities concurrently.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with capability to foster strong relationships and influence decision-making.
- Ability to perform effectively and remain calm under pressure.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working within the Australia and New Zealand media landscape is preferred but not required.
- Familiarity with video production or podcasting is an advantage.
