Job description
Position Overview
The York Region District School Board is offering a long-term occasional (LTO) teaching position for an Elementary Special Education Teacher to serve Community Class students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in grades 4 to 8. The contract may extend through April 26, 2027. This role provides an engaging and meaningful opportunity to contribute to public education and support student achievement within a supportive teaching environment.
Compensation and Qualifications
The compensation aligns with the current ETFO Elementary Teacher Collective Agreement. Salary is prorated based on full-time equivalency, qualification evaluation (QECO), and years of service. Salary ranges include:
- A1-A2 (Steps 0-10): $57,269 to $102,938 annually
- A3-A4 (Steps 0-10): $63,855 to $120,384 annually
Applicants must hold Special Education qualifications and be members in good standing, or in the process of becoming qualified, with the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) before the start date.
Application and Reference Requirements
Applicants external to the board must submit at least three professional teaching references, including the referee’s full name, role, organization, and email. Internal applicants should include all teaching experiences and provide two references, one of whom must be a YRDSB administrator. References will only be contacted after practicum or interview stages. All successful hires must submit a satisfactory police record check.
