Job description

Role summary

The York Region District School Board is hiring for an Elementary Long Term Occasional assignment in Music/Transitions at 100% FTE in Markham, Ontario. This assignment may continue through June 29, 2027. The Board describes the role as an opportunity to contribute to student success in public education while working in a supportive teaching environment.

Compensation

Pay is aligned with the current ETFO Elementary Teacher Collective Agreement and will be prorated according to full-time equivalency, QECO rating, and years of experience, subject to the applicable collective agreement terms.

  • A1-A2 (Steps 0-10): $57,269 to $102,938
  • A3-A4 (Steps 0-10): $63,855 to $120,384

Qualifications and screening

Candidates must already be members in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers, or be in the process of becoming OCT qualified before the start date. External applicants are expected to provide at least three professional supervisory teaching references in the screening section of the application. Internal YRDSB employees must include all prior teaching experience and provide two references, one of which must be a YRDSB administrator. Successful candidates must also provide a satisfactory police record check.

Reference guidance

  • References may include a principal or vice-principal who has supervised your teaching.
  • A faculty advisor, coordinator, or practicum advisor who has observed your classroom practice may be used.
  • A host or mentor teacher who has supervised your teaching in an elementary or secondary setting may also be appropriate.
  • Another professional reference who can speak to your teaching practice is also acceptable.
