Role overview
York Region District School Board is seeking an elementary Long Term Occasional teacher for a Grade 4/5 homeroom class in Markham, Ontario. This assignment may continue beyond the original end date.
The Board emphasizes student success and describes teaching as a meaningful, demanding role within public education. The position sits in CEC East.
Compensation
Pay is based on the current ETFO Elementary Teacher Collective Agreement and will be adjusted according to FTE, QECO rating, and years of experience, subject to the applicable collective agreement rules.
- A1-A2 (Steps 0-10): $57,269 to $102,938
- A3-A4 (Steps 0-10): $63,855 to $120,384

Additional requirements
- Applicants need to be current members in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers, or be in the process of becoming OCT-qualified before the start date.
- External applicants must provide at least three professional, supervisory teaching references in the screening section of the online application, including full name, job title, workplace or organization, and email address.
- Internal YRDSB staff must list all previous teaching experience and include two references, with at least one being a YRDSB administrator.
- Selected candidates must provide a satisfactory police record check.
Reference guidance
- A principal or vice-principal who has supervised your teaching practice and can comment on your work.
- A faculty advisor, coordinator, or practicum advisor who has observed your teaching in a classroom environment.
- A host or mentor teacher who has supervised you in an elementary or secondary setting.
- Another professional reference who can speak to your teaching practice.
