Job description

Role overview

The Electrician - Section Supervisor is responsible for performing organized, intermediate and direct-support electrical maintenance, modification and repair work on military equipment in line with technical manuals and U.S. Air Force standards.

Core duties

  • Carry out electrical trade work related to installing, maintaining and repairing equipment used to generate, distribute or use electrical power.
  • Support team members by analyzing issues and troubleshooting maintenance problems.
  • Prepare and keep all required government records and maintenance job packets for equipment repair and upkeep.
  • Test, repair, overhaul, modify and maintain specialized electrical systems and components, including automatic alternator synchronizing equipment, amplifying control units, voltage regulation systems, generators, switching and control panels, and junction boxes.
  • Work from blueprints, drawings, layouts and other technical specifications.
  • Identify faults in electrical systems or equipment and determine the cause of failures.
  • Perform standard calculations related to wiring loads and electrical equipment requirements.
  • Use electrician hand tools as well as measuring and testing instruments.
  • Research material needs, raise requisitions, and prepare supporting documents and reports.
  • Maintain and repair all areas of buildings and industrial electrical distribution systems.
  • Diagnose system issues, isolate root causes and restore proper function.
  • Disassemble and reassemble equipment using technical manuals and electronic technical manuals.

Education and experience

  • High school diploma or an equivalent qualification is required.
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience in electrical system maintenance, repair and testing is needed.
  • A Master Electrician or Journeyman-level license is mandatory.
  • The candidate must be able to read and understand building diagrams and technical manuals.
  • Knowledge of NEC and NFPA-40 is required.
  • Familiarity with the British Electrical Code is preferred.

Licences and certifications

  • Valid Master or Journeyman Electrician license.
  • OSHA 30 safety certification.

Additional requirements

  • Valid U.S. driver’s license is required.
  • Valid U.S. passport is preferred.
  • Must be able to obtain and keep a valid residency visa for Qatar.
  • Must be able to work in extreme conditions such as dust and high temperatures.
  • Must be willing to handle long working hours and exposure to weather and hazardous environments.
  • Travel is 100% and will be to a deployed location.
  • A current DoD Secret clearance is required and must be maintained.
