Job description
Overview
This role is being shared on behalf of a partner organization, which will handle applications and all subsequent hiring steps. The hiring team is seeking an ELA Curriculum Writer located in the United States.
This is an opportunity to design strong English Language Arts learning experiences that can support classrooms nationwide. The work centers on creating rigorous curriculum materials for grades 3 through 12 that strengthen reading, writing, and critical thinking. You’ll operate at the intersection of education, curriculum development, and edtech, partnering with teams across the organization to build, improve, and refine instructional resources. The setting is collaborative, feedback-oriented, and purpose-driven, with a clear emphasis on accessibility and equity in learning. The position suits an educator-writer who enjoys independent writing as well as collaborative curriculum creation and wants to help improve student outcomes through thoughtful instructional design.
Key Accountabilities
- Build standards-aligned ELA curriculum assets for grades 3-12, including lessons, units, and supporting learning materials.
- Draft, edit, and strengthen instructional content so it is clear, coherent, and aligned with college- and career-readiness expectations.
- Select strong literary and informational texts that fit instructional goals and engage a wide range of learners.
- Review curriculum components from peers to check alignment with design principles, academic standards, and effective instructional practice.
- Work closely with curriculum, assessment, product, and professional development teams on shared content initiatives.
- Handle several curriculum projects at once while staying detail-oriented and meeting deadlines.
- Use feedback to improve work through repeated drafting and revision cycles.
- Support both digital and print instructional materials and contribute to broader content needs across the organization.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of full-time teaching experience in English Language Arts or a related humanities subject.
- A bachelor’s degree in English, History, Education, or a closely related field.
- Strong command of ELA instructional best practices and college- and career-readiness standards.
- Excellent writing, editing, reading comprehension, and analytical skills.
- Solid understanding of classroom realities and student learning needs across different educational settings.
- Experience working with or in communities of color, and/or familiarity with diverse educational environments.
- Strong teamwork skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across functions and deadlines.
- A growth-oriented approach with comfort receiving feedback, revising work, and learning continuously.
- Curriculum writing experience in ELA, or a background in instructional design, is considered a plus.
- Must be available to work U.S. business hours from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Eastern Time and function effectively in a remote setup.
Compensation and Benefits
The compensation range is $80,000 to $100,000 annually, depending on experience.
- Medical, dental, and vision coverage.
- 401(k) plan with employer matching.
- Flexible remote-first setup with defined collaboration hours.
- Paid time off that includes holidays, sick leave, parental leave, and additional personal leave options.
- Stipend for home office setup to support remote productivity.
- Access to wellness, learning, and employee engagement initiatives.
- Additional benefits such as FSA/HSA options, legal insurance, and partner discounts.
