Role Overview
We are looking for an Economist specializing in advanced macroeconomic forecasting and modeling to join a team remotely on a contract basis. This role involves the development and implementation of sophisticated time-series models to generate robust economic forecasts and insights.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and apply advanced time-series models, including VAR, VECM, ARIMA, and cointegration methods, utilizing EViews software.
- Perform thorough diagnostic testing and validation of models to ensure forecast reliability and accuracy.
- Streamline and automate forecasting workflows to enhance efficiency and scalability of the modeling process.
- Translate intricate statistical results into understandable macroeconomic insights suitable for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Prepare detailed, clear documentation and reports on modeling techniques and outcomes.
- Collaborate with client teams to embed modeling results within broader economic narratives and policy frameworks.
Candidate Requirements
- Extensive practical experience working with EViews, including proficiency in scripting and automation.
- Demonstrated expertise in constructing, estimating, and validating time-series models, notably VAR, VECM, ARIMA, and cointegration approaches.
- In-depth knowledge of model diagnostic techniques, stability assessment, and accuracy evaluation methods.
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills with the capability to convey complex modeling methodologies clearly both in writing and verbally.
- Proven track record of automating modeling and forecasting operations effectively.
Additional Information
- Contract role with weekly commitment ranging between 10 to 40 hours.
- Compensation varies from $35 to $100 per hour depending on experience and qualifications.
- Fully remote position based in Australia but open for remote candidates.
