Job description

Role Overview

The Early Childhood Connector is a location-specific position dedicated to supporting children aged eight years and under who have developmental delays or autism with low to moderate support needs. The role also assists their families, carers, and kin by providing access to information, support, and services that foster positive developmental progress. Embedded within Tasmania’s existing child, family, and community services, the Connector acts as a guide, offering information, advice, navigation, and pathway assistance to help families identify and connect with suitable available services.

Program Background

Tasmania is implementing the Thriving Kids program, a national foundational support system for young children with developmental delay or autism requiring low to moderate supports and their families, under a bilateral agreement with the Australian Government. This program aims to promote earlier detection of developmental issues and timely connection with appropriate supports. Children with significant and permanent disabilities continue to be supported through the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), as per usual guidelines.
