Director, Visual Design

Role overview

This is a senior creative leadership opportunity based in the United States. You will shape the direction, quality, and long-term evolution of visual design across a global organization. The role combines strategic leadership with direct creative impact, influencing how design shows up in campaigns, digital products, and newer platforms.

You will lead multidisciplinary design teams and work closely with leaders across creative, motion, production, and product functions to keep output consistent, polished, and aligned. The position calls for a strong design point of view, systems thinking, and familiarity with modern creative practices, including AI-supported workflows. In this role, you will function as both a mentor and a high-standard creative voice, helping teams produce better work at scale.

Key accountabilities

• Set and refine the vision, quality standards, and future roadmap for the visual design discipline across the business.
• Manage, coach, and grow design leaders and their teams while encouraging strong craft and ongoing development.
• Collaborate with creative, motion, production, and product partners to deliver cohesive design across every channel and deliverable.
• Build and oversee scalable design systems, team workflows, and operational practices.
• Promote the use of AI-assisted design tools and other new creative technologies.
• Guide teams through complex creative work and uncertain or changing project conditions.
• Develop trusted relationships with senior stakeholders and clients to communicate design value and help shape outcomes.

Required background

• At least 8 years of experience in visual and interactive design, with 2 or more years in a leadership capacity.
• A strong portfolio that demonstrates polished visual work across digital products, marketing campaigns, or brand systems.
• Advanced command of Adobe Creative Suite and Figma, including practical use of components, variants, auto layout, and design system methods.
• Experience creating, maintaining, and expanding design systems in large or complex organizations.
• Understanding of AI-powered design workflows and current creative technology trends.
• Excellent presentation and communication ability, with confidence influencing both technical teams and senior executives.
• Strong planning and coordination skills, with the ability to work effectively in fast-moving cross-functional settings.
• A bachelor’s degree in Design, Visual Arts, or similar experience is preferred.
