Director, Sustainable Business

About the Role

As a senior leader within Brunswick Group's Sustainable Business practice, you will spearhead the development and expansion of sustainable business strategies across key Asian markets. Collaborating with global teams from cities including Hong Kong, London, New York, and Singapore, you will be instrumental in delivering strategic communications and senior-level consulting on critical sustainability topics such as climate change, biodiversity, and nature.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive business growth by seeking new client opportunities, delivering pitches, and enhancing existing client partnerships within various industries and international markets.
• Lead innovation initiatives by identifying impactful opportunities, developing new methodologies, and maintaining the firm's leadership in sustainability consulting.
• Manage client engagements from start to finish, producing high-quality strategic advice and communication materials aimed at executive and board-level stakeholders.
• Design and implement integrated communication campaigns that align corporate sustainability goals with stakeholder engagement and external scrutiny standards.
• Build and nurture trusted relationships with clients, expanding Brunswick’s network and influence across the sustainability landscape.
• Lead and coordinate internal teams ensuring operational excellence, overseeing project timelines, finances, and performance.
• Mentor and support the professional growth of colleagues below the director level.
• Collaborate across the global Brunswick network to integrate diverse expertise into client solutions.

Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of 10 years’ relevant experience, ideally within communications, consultancy, corporate, media, NGO sectors, or stakeholder advisory roles.
• Proven credibility engaging senior business leaders, including through digital platforms.
• Expertise in core sustainability issues such as energy transition, climate, nature conservation, supply chains, human rights, diversity and inclusion, circular economy, or ESG governance.
• Comprehensive experience in delivering communication campaigns, business development, and team leadership.
• Demonstrated understanding of the interplay between business, politics, regulation, finance, and societal stakeholders.
• Strong knowledge of corporate positioning and ability to design impactful and enduring sustainability campaigns.
• Established networks within business and societal sectors, especially in Singapore.
• Global outlook with experience working with international organizations.
• Familiarity with media relations and harnessing social media is advantageous.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including engaging presentation capabilities and emotional intelligence.
• High enthusiasm for continuous learning, creative problem-solving aptitude, and balancing analytical and innovative thinking.
• Demonstrated empathy and leadership ability, fostering a supportive team environment and mentoring subordinates.
• Resilience and adaptability to thrive in a fast-paced, commercially driven setting coupled with a good sense of humor.
• Clear strategic vision on how businesses can advance sustainable progress and ability to champion impactful initiatives.
• Strong commitment to driving meaningful business action on societal issues.
• Experience working in or with Japanese corporations is an added advantage.
