Role overview

This position leads communications, engagement, and branding for Scotia Tech’s Technology Infrastructure transformation agenda. The role is responsible for making the transformation strategy, priorities, and outcomes easy to understand across the organization, while helping senior leaders and employees stay aligned and engaged. It also supports the growth of the Scotia Tech brand inside and outside the bank, reinforcing Scotiabank’s position as a technology-enabled banking leader.

Strategic communications and narrative development

  • Create and run a multi-channel communications plan that supports the Technology Infrastructure transformation roadmap and the wider enterprise technology strategy.
  • Build a clear transformation story that explains the vision, goals, progress, and benefits for different audiences.
  • Advise the SVP, Technology Infrastructure and the leadership team on executive messaging, presentations, speeches, and other key communications.
  • Keep all messaging aligned with enterprise priorities, Scotiabank’s strategic direction, brand, and values.
  • Set communication rules, timing, and governance to ensure coordinated delivery across channels.

Executive communications and thought leadership

  • Manage executive communications such as town halls, leadership forums, board materials, and enterprise-wide updates.
  • Support the external profile of Technology Infrastructure through awards, conferences, industry events, and academic partnerships.
  • Help the SVP and senior leaders strengthen their market presence as voices in technology transformation.
  • Coordinate with Corporate Communications on external messaging, media positioning, and reputation matters.

Employee engagement and culture enablement

  • Design engagement programs that build purpose, alignment, and pride within Scotia Tech.
  • Create ways for employees to share feedback and participate through campaigns, surveys, and interactive sessions.
  • Develop recognition and storytelling initiatives that highlight milestones, success stories, and employee contributions.
  • Help employees understand transformation priorities and how their individual work connects to business outcomes.
  • Encourage a transparent, inclusive, and consistently communicative culture during change.

Brand strategy and multimedia design centre of excellence

  • Guide the development and ongoing refresh of the Scotia Tech brand within Technology Infrastructure, ensuring consistency with enterprise brand standards.
  • Set up and lead a multimedia design Centre of Excellence to produce strong visual communications, digital assets, and storytelling content.
  • Define brand rules, visual identity standards, and content frameworks for Technology Infrastructure.
  • Ensure branding and communications materials are delivered consistently and at a high standard across all platforms.
  • Increase the visibility of Technology Infrastructure internally and externally through creative and engaging content.

Stakeholder management and cross-functional alignment

  • Serve as the main connection point between Technology Infrastructure and partners in Corporate Communications, HR, Business Lines, and other enterprise teams.
  • Coordinate communications across operating groups to reduce duplication and improve impact.
  • Build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders to understand priorities, risks, and communication needs.
  • Guide leaders on communication approach, stakeholder sensitivities, and reputational risk.
  • Support enterprise programs that require communication across multiple teams and geographies.

Change management communications

  • Work with Technology, HR, Corporate Communications, and Transformation teams to build and deliver end-to-end communication plans.
  • Support communication of technology, organizational, and process changes to reduce confusion, resistance, and disruption.
  • Clearly explain the reason for change, the benefits, and the expected results of transformation initiatives.
  • Develop messaging that addresses employee concerns and supports behavior change.
  • Embed communication plans into broader transformation governance and execution structures.

Content strategy, development, and delivery

  • Oversee creation, curation, and delivery of high-impact content across formats and channels.
  • Produce executive presentations and speeches.
  • Contribute to enterprise town halls and leadership communication forums.
  • Lead video content, multimedia storytelling, and digital campaigns.
  • Develop intranet articles and content for internal communication platforms.
  • Create external-facing content that supports branding and reputation.
  • Keep all content clear, engaging, and consistent with strategic messages and brand standards.
  • Use digital tools, multimedia capabilities, and storytelling methods to improve content delivery.

Measurement, analytics, and continuous improvement

  • Define and monitor KPIs to measure the effectiveness of communications, engagement, and branding efforts.
  • Track employee engagement, message reach, content performance, and transformation adoption.
  • Share insights and reporting with senior leadership, including results, risks, and improvement opportunities.
  • Continuously refine communication approaches based on feedback, data, and changing business needs.
  • Promote experimentation, innovation, and ongoing improvement within the communications function.

Team leadership and capability development

  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of communications professionals, engagement leads, analysts, and designers.
  • Define team structure, responsibilities, and accountability in line with strategic priorities.
  • Strengthen capability in strategic communications, storytelling, branding, and digital content creation.
  • Build an inclusive, high-performance environment that attracts, retains, and develops diverse talent.
  • Support succession planning and leadership development across the team.

Risk, governance, and control environment

  • Ensure communications work follows Scotiabank policies, governance frameworks, and regulatory requirements.
  • Apply controls to protect confidentiality, manage reputational risk, and handle sensitive information appropriately.
  • Make sure messaging meets enterprise standards for risk management, regulatory compliance, and conduct.
  • Support audit, risk, and compliance activities related to communications and stakeholder engagement when needed.
  • Consider the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture in daily decisions and work.
  • Ensure the team operates effectively with strong business controls covering operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk, and conduct risk, in line with the relevant risk management frameworks, Global Handbook, and Business Conduct guidelines.
  • Build a strong performance culture and people strategy through inclusion, coaching, communication of vision and values, and succession and development planning.
