Role Summary
The company is looking to hire a seasoned Business Development Director to spearhead growth initiatives and expand value by forging partnerships, alliances, out-licensing, in-licensing, acquisitions, and other key collaborations. Reporting directly to the CEO, the individual will be pivotal in identifying, evaluating, structuring, and negotiating deals aligned with the company’s strategic objectives. Primary Responsibilities
- Lead the strategy formulation and execution for out-licensing transactions and co-development partnerships with prominent global biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies.
- Maintain up-to-date and in-depth knowledge of the biotech sector landscape, including new therapeutic modalities and competitor developments, to shape strategic positioning.
- Manage end-to-end deal processes encompassing opportunity sourcing, technical due diligence, financial modeling, and complex contract negotiations.
- Generate and foster impactful research collaborations with academic bodies and industry entities to advance scientific and business priorities.
- Collaborate effectively with internal teams such as R&D, clinical, and legal to ensure synergy and alignment of external partnerships with internal pipeline development.
- Convert intricate scientific findings into persuasive business proposals and presentations for external audiences.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 6 years’ experience in business development or corporate strategy within the biotech or pharmaceutical sectors.
- Preferred background includes experience in large pharmaceutical companies focusing on buy-side search and evaluation with complementary biotech experience emphasizing sell-side execution and streamlined operations.
- Strong scientific expertise in life sciences, especially biologics, protein degradation mechanisms, oncology, and immunology.
- Advanced degree such as a Ph.D. or Master's in a related life science discipline is highly desirable.
- Proven track record negotiating and closing diverse agreements including research collaborations, licensing deals, and strategic partnerships.
- Self-driven, results-focused professional capable of working autonomously and excelling in a dynamic startup environment.
