Job description
Position Summary
The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority (WRHA) invites applications for the role of Director of Facilities Support Services. This leadership position oversees environmental services, facilities, and maintenance across all regional health service sites, managing a budget exceeding $100 million. Reporting to the regional lead of corporate services, the Director spearheads customer-focused operational leadership to ensure prompt, dependable, and responsive support that meets strategic goals, with an emphasis on quality improvement and patient safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct and oversee facility support services across all sites within the service delivery organization.
- Develop and guide a customer-oriented team operationally dedicated to meeting key performance indicators and organizational outcomes.
- Implement and monitor best practices and emerging trends in corporate support services, including innovations in technology and service delivery.
- Collaborate with Shared Health on capital planning and security initiatives.
- Monitor and report on capital projects to senior leadership.
- Coordinate planning, testing, and execution of organization-wide emergency and incident control strategies, acting as lead in cross-site incidents.
- Track maintenance trends and equipment performance to identify anomalies.
- Support clinical leadership to enhance health outcomes by ensuring effective facility operations.
Required Experience and Qualifications
- At least seven years of progressive management within large private or public sector enterprises, preferably healthcare-related.
- Minimum of three years’ direct experience managing support services including nutritional, laundry, environmental, facilities, or maintenance services.
- A minimum of five years' experience building and leading high-performing teams.
- Three years managing within unionized environments.
- Healthcare planning and delivery experience is advantageous.
- Post-secondary degree preferred in relevant fields from an accredited institution.
- Lean Six Sigma certification and facilities management credentials are advantageous.
- Membership in a related professional regulatory body is required.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong senior leadership skills consistent with LEADS in a Caring Environment framework.
- Ability to work safely in various physical environments, including heights and confined spaces.
- Capability for regular travel across sites with a valid Manitoba driver's license and personal vehicle.
- Physical ability to lift items between 15-23 kg.

- Current satisfactory Criminal Records Check, including Vulnerable Sector Search, Child Abuse Registry Check, and Adult Abuse Registry Check, must be provided before employment.
- Applicants cannot hold multiple WRHA positions totaling more than 1.0 FTE across affiliated institutions.
