Role overview
This position leads procurement strategy and execution for the organization, ensuring purchasing practices support broader business and departmental objectives. The role is centered on driving cost efficiency, strengthening supplier performance, and aligning procurement activities with sustainability commitments.
Key responsibilities
- Set annual procurement direction and translate business priorities into actionable plans for the function.
- Identify and implement new approaches, including the use of emerging technologies such as AI, to improve procurement outcomes.
- Oversee category management efforts and deliver meaningful cost savings or added value to the organization.
- Manage the supplier base strategically through sourcing, negotiation, selection, and ongoing performance and relationship management.
- Ensure procurement strategies and operating processes are consistent with the Sustainable Procurement policy.
- Guide and develop the team to deliver annual targets and strategic outcomes related to revenue, risk, reputation, and cost.
- Lead procurement activities across the full end-to-end cycle, covering both internal and external requirements.
- Act as a key partner to stakeholders, supporting business units with procurement stewardship and value creation.
- Serve as the main point of contact for procurement queries, training, policy interpretation, and process alignment across departments.
- Build team capability by developing both functional expertise and leadership strength to foster a high-performing culture.
Required experience and qualifications
- Hands-on background of 5 to 10 years in sustainable procurement, with strong exposure to leadership and transformation initiatives.
- At least 3 to 5 years of direct people management experience.
- Demonstrated ability to shape procurement strategy in areas such as transformation, business innovation, sustainability, and productivity improvement.
- Strong ownership mindset, with a proactive and accountable approach to work.
- Comfortable with analytical problem-solving, adaptable thinking, strong attention to detail, and big-picture decision-making.
- Effective influencing and business acumen skills, especially in complex, matrixed organizations.
- A degree in a technical field such as Engineering, IT, or Supply Chain is preferred; professional certifications are an added advantage.
