Role overview

This is a remote, full-time leadership position in the United States. The role is being advertised on behalf of a partner organization, which will handle applications and all subsequent hiring steps.

The Director, Patient Services Strategy will shape and improve patient access programs that make it easier for people to start and continue treatment. The position is focused on building scalable solutions across the prescription journey, from treatment initiation through ongoing therapy, with the goal of improving care experiences and outcomes.

This leader will work closely with teams across the business to strengthen reimbursement strategy, improve operational performance, and deepen patient engagement. The role also serves as a senior advisor on patient services, access barriers, and broader healthcare market trends, while contributing to company-wide strategic initiatives.

It is a high-impact role that blends long-term planning, analytics, innovation, and cross-functional influence in a mission-driven healthcare environment.

Accountabilities

  • Build patient services models that can scale while improving access, engagement, adherence, and treatment results.
  • Create measurement frameworks, performance indicators, and governance structures that support accountability and ongoing improvement.
  • Refine operating approaches, policies, and compliance workflows so they keep pace with changing healthcare regulations and market needs.
  • Review access patterns, reimbursement trends, and industry shifts to spot risks and opportunities.
  • Advise senior leaders and cross-functional stakeholders on patient services and access strategy.
  • Work with commercial, market access, trade, distribution, compliance, legal, and outside partners to develop coordinated access solutions.
  • Advance digital transformation and technology-enabled approaches that improve scale and patient engagement.
  • Develop long-term strategies for patient engagement and adherence using data and stakeholder input.
  • Oversee external vendors and partners through governance, performance tracking, and strategic alignment.
  • Contribute to annual and long-range planning by assessing reimbursement trends, program impact, and patient support needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree is required; an advanced degree such as MBA, PharmD, RN, or PA is preferred.
  • 9 to 12 years of progressive experience in patient access, market access, reimbursement strategy, or a related healthcare discipline.
  • Background in building and delivering enterprise-level patient services strategies with clear business impact.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams, vendors, and external partners.
  • Strong understanding of payer environments, including Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial reimbursement systems.
  • Ability to turn complex access challenges into practical strategic actions.
  • Solid knowledge of healthcare regulations, compliance obligations, and privacy standards, including HIPAA.
  • Excellent communication skills with strong stakeholder management and executive influence.
  • Experience using analytics, insights, and digital tools to create scalable patient access programs.
  • Strong business judgment and analytical capability, with the ability to simplify complex information into recommendations.
  • Comfort balancing strategic leadership with hands-on execution in a growing biotechnology or healthcare setting.

Benefits

  • Annual base salary range of $214,000 to $262,000, depending on experience, qualifications, and internal equity.
  • Possible eligibility for annual bonus awards and equity incentives.
  • Broad healthcare coverage, including medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision plans.
  • 401(k) retirement plan with employer matching.
  • Paid parental leave plus additional leave support programs.
  • Life insurance and disability coverage.
  • Flexible time off and paid holidays.
  • Annual company-wide winter holiday shutdown.
  • Chance to help build innovative healthcare solutions that improve patient access and treatment experiences.
