Job description
Role Overview
This opportunity is for a senior operations and supply chain leader to head U.S. operations for a fast-expanding luxury retail business in New York City. The position is hands-on and strategic, with responsibility for end-to-end operational execution across supply chain, logistics, inventory, customer service, warehousing, transportation, customs, repairs, and merchandising. The role reports into executive leadership and involves managing a team of eight professionals.
Location: New York, NY. Work schedule: hybrid. Compensation: $120,000 to $160,000 annually.
Core Responsibilities
The position spans supply chain planning, operational leadership, retail support, customer experience, after-sales service, special projects, and people management.
Supply Chain and Inventory
- Build and implement inventory plans that keep stock balanced across retail, wholesale, and eCommerce channels.
- Prepare inventory forecasts and align replenishment planning with global headquarters.
- Track stock levels, shortages, allocations, and replenishment needs.
- Review inventory, sales, and order information, and turn it into KPIs and operational reports.
- Keep inventory at the right level to support service goals while limiting overstock.
Operations and Logistics
- Direct all U.S. logistics and distribution activity.
- Supervise warehouse functions including inventory control, receiving, shipping, and order fulfillment.
- Oversee transport partners handling both valuable and non-valuable shipments.
- Lead efforts to reduce logistics costs without compromising service quality.
- Ensure customs compliance, documentation, and coordination with brokers.
- Monitor the performance of third-party logistics warehouse partners.
Retail and Merchandising Support
- Work with merchandising teams on assortments for boutiques and new store launches.
- Manage retail replenishment and product availability across stores.
- Contribute to visual merchandising and allocation planning.
- Review wholesale inventory and suggest actions to improve sales performance.
Customer Service and Orders
- Handle B2B and B2C order flow from placement through final delivery.
- Oversee customer service for retail boutiques, wholesale accounts, and eCommerce customers.
- Maintain a high standard of service by ensuring timely fulfillment and quick resolution of issues.
Repairs and After-Sales
- Run U.S. repair and after-sales operations.
- Coordinate repair processes, outside service providers, transport, customs, invoicing, and turnaround targets.
- Collaborate with global teams to adopt stronger service practices and standards.
Events and Special Projects
- Plan inventory and logistics support for luxury events and product launches.
- Arrange transportation, security, and product handling for off-site events.
- Support High Jewelry stock control and special-order activities.
Leadership and Collaboration
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of eight operations professionals.
- Create scalable processes that can support business expansion.
- Champion continuous improvement across all operational areas.
- Partner closely with retail, sales, marketing, finance, merchandising, and global operations teams.
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- At least 5 years of leadership experience in operations, supply chain, logistics, or inventory management.
- Experience in luxury retail is required; background in jewelry, watches, or premium fashion is strongly preferred.
- Experience managing teams of four or more people.
- Solid knowledge of inventory planning, warehouse operations, transportation, customs, and supply chain processes.
- Experience working with third-party logistics providers.
- Comfort using ERP systems and operational reporting tools.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel capability.
- CEGID or M3 experience is an advantage.
- French language ability is a plus.
