Job description

Role Overview

This leadership position has been created to tighten the connection between vendor performance and on-the-ground operations. The role is responsible for two core areas: ensuring vendors meet OTIF expectations that safeguard inventory availability and cost at the site level, and acting as the main escalation owner for inbound and capacity issues raised by field teams across the MFC network.

The position manages a team of Inbound Compliance Managers and sits at the crossroads of supply chain planning, vendor management, and field execution. Success in this role depends on strong analytical judgment, fast response to escalations, and the ability to create repeatable systems that reduce inbound failures over time.

Vendor Compliance and OTIF Management

  • Set and enforce OTIF standards across the vendor base, covering fill rate, delivery timing compliance, and accountability for short shipments.
  • Build and oversee vendor scorecards with clear thresholds, escalation steps, and consequences for repeated underperformance.
  • Run recurring business reviews with major vendors and distributors and convert performance data into specific corrective actions.
  • Work closely with Procurement and Supply Chain Planning to ensure vendor agreements reflect operational compliance expectations.
  • Monitor OTIF trends across the network and flag recurring vendor issues before they affect site-level operations.

Field Escalation and Inbound Operations

  • Act as the senior escalation contact for inbound and capacity problems raised by field operators, area managers, and site leaders across the MFC network.
  • Assess escalations quickly by using operational data to distinguish vendor-related failures from site-related issues, then coordinate resolution with the right partner.
  • Spot recurring escalation patterns that point to deeper planning, scheduling, or compliance breakdowns that need structural fixes.
  • Partner with DC and supply chain planning teams so updated buy plans, volume changes, and scheduling adjustments reach field teams before inbound activity starts.
  • Create and maintain standard procedures for inbound receiving, damage ownership, and capacity escalations to ensure consistent execution across locations.

Team Leadership

  • Lead, coach, and hold accountable a team of Inbound Compliance Managers supporting regional vendor relationships and site-level inbound needs.
  • Set clear expectations and foster a culture centered on data-backed decisions, urgency, and vendor accountability.
  • Put in place common frameworks, tools, and reporting rhythms that make compliance operations scalable and consistent.

Impact and Complexity

This role operates in a high-speed environment where vendor performance and field execution overlap. It requires the ability to balance competing priorities across a multi-vendor inbound network while protecting site profitability.

The work is complex in three main ways. First, vendors range from large national distributors to smaller regional and specialty suppliers, each with different cadence and reliability levels. Improving compliance requires both strong analysis and the credibility to drive behavior change without disrupting supply. Second, field escalations are often urgent and unclear, so the role must quickly review data, determine whether the failure sits with the vendor or the site, and make decisions that affect profit and loss. Third, the role bridges supply chain planning systems and field operators, helping prevent situations where sites receive more inbound volume than their staffing or capacity can handle, which can lead to damage, out-of-stocks, and shrink.

The role directly influences vendor fill rates and delivery adherence, reduces site-level damage and shrink tied to receiving failures, and improves how quickly and accurately field teams receive help during inbound disruptions. Strong OTIF enforcement and quicker escalation resolution support better inventory availability, lower losses, and more predictable operations.

Requirements

  • 8 to 12 years of experience in supply chain operations, vendor management, or field operations, with exposure to both vendor accountability and site execution.
  • Hands-on experience managing vendors to OTIF or similar standards, including business reviews and corrective action follow-through.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret operational data, identify root causes, and make attribution calls under pressure.
  • Background supporting or managing field operations teams and understanding how inbound planning issues affect site execution.
  • Proven success leading teams and creating scalable operations or compliance frameworks.
  • Excellent communication and influence skills, including the ability to present to senior leaders and address vendor performance directly.
  • Comfort working in a fast-changing environment where priorities shift often and escalations are frequent.

Preferred Experience

Experience in quick commerce, grocery, or multi-site fulfillment environments is considered a strong advantage.

Compensation

The base salary range for this role is $152,000 to $190,000. Pay is set using market-based pricing and may vary by location.
