Position Overview

The Director of Training is pivotal in steering the company's strategic agenda by providing exceptional service aligned with the mission and values of Hiller Plumbing, Heating, Cooling & Electrical. This role involves cultivating a positive company culture and delivering impactful training programs that empower team members.

Key Responsibilities

  • Foster a culture centered on care, promoting positive experiences for customers and staff alike.
  • Design, coordinate, and implement training initiatives that align with organizational goals.
  • Assess training needs across the company and routinely update educational materials for relevance.
  • Develop comprehensive training programs informed by job analysis, career mapping, and performance reviews.
  • Maintain and update training documentation including manuals, standard operating procedures, and assessments.
  • Work closely with the Process Control Manager to align training with policy enforcement and process enhancements.
  • Mentor employees and managers delivering training, including certifying district trainers and encouraging continuous development.
  • Create interactive and engaging learning sessions with performance improvement evaluation metrics.
  • Collaborate across departments to identify development requirements and support succession planning.
  • Engage external educational providers and contribute to establishing a corporate online learning system.
  • Lead and mentor the training team, promoting an environment of growth and learning.
  • Assist talent acquisition efforts by attracting and retaining committed personnel.
  • Organize and oversee training events, managing logistics professionally while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and facilitate new hire onboarding.
  • Adhere to company safety policies, performance standards, and ethical guidelines consistently.
  • Undertake additional projects and responsibilities as directed by management.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

  • Work primarily takes place in an office setting with necessary travel to company branches.
  • Requires extended periods of sitting and the ability to facilitate training across multiple sites.
  • Capable of using standard office equipment and computers efficiently.
  • Occasional lifting of items up to 10 pounds.
  • Normal vision and hearing capacity necessary for computer and communication device use.
  • Willingness to work beyond regular hours, including nights or weekends as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is necessary, with at least five years’ expertise in training design and facilitation preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership and mentoring strengths, capable of leading by personal example.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, multitasking, and interpersonal capabilities.
  • Effective in managing change and fostering organizational growth.
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Access.
  • Team-focused outlook with a collaborative work style.
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license and meet company insurance criteria.
