Role Overview

The Director of Supply Chain will spearhead the creation and management of Veradermics’ commercial supply chain in readiness for the company’s inaugural pharmaceutical product launch. This senior leadership role involves establishing systems, processes, and a scalable operating model necessary to meet commercial demands and long-term organizational growth.

The position involves comprehensive oversight from raw material sourcing through to receipt by third-party logistics providers. Key duties include material and supply planning, translating demand forecasts, procurement, production scheduling, inventory management, and product shipping. The Director will closely collaborate with Commercial, Finance, Manufacturing, Quality, Regulatory, Legal, and external partners to ensure seamless operation and governance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the commercial Supply Chain function supporting launch readiness and growth.
  • Create long-term operating models including organizational design, staffing plans, systems, and process frameworks.
  • Define clear role responsibilities, decision-making processes, and governance across cross-functional teams and partners.
  • Select and execute scalable supply planning tools, systems, and processes aligned with commercialization objectives.
  • Translate commercial demand forecasts into detailed manufacturing and supply plans while balancing inventory and capacity constraints.
  • Lead scenario planning to assess demand variability, geographic expansion opportunities, and potential supply constraints.
  • Identify risks within supply chain operations and develop mitigation strategies to ensure consistent product availability.
  • Manage relationships with external manufacturers, CDMOs, suppliers, packaging vendors, and logistics providers ensuring effective scheduling, supply, and distribution.
  • Monitor supplier and production performance, address capacity and inventory issues, and coordinate contingency plans.
  • Collaborate with Procurement and Legal teams on supplier selection and contract management.
  • Ensure compliance with GMP and quality standards including oversight of material disposition, product release, recalls, and supply continuity.
  • Manage the supply chain budget encompassing commercial supply expenditures and operational costs.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives adopting emerging technologies such as AI-driven analytics to enhance supply chain efficiency.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Operations, Business, or a related field; advanced degrees preferred.
  • At least 15 years of progressively responsible supply chain leadership experience, preferably within pharmaceuticals, biotech, or similar regulated industries.
  • Proven track record developing or scaling commercial supply chain functions, particularly supporting product commercialization in emerging biotech companies.
  • Extensive knowledge of supply and demand planning, procurement, inventory management, external manufacturing, logistics, and supplier oversight.
  • Strong cross-functional partnering skills with Commercial, Finance, Manufacturing, Quality, and external partners to integrate supply plans.
  • Experienced in process development, system implementation, and scaling operational models in high growth and fast-paced settings.
  • APICS certification required; Lean and/or Six Sigma certifications highly desirable.
  • Hands-on, collaborative leadership style combined with excellent analytical skills and business acumen, capable of influencing across functions.
  • Continuous learner with an eagerness to explore emerging technologies including artificial intelligence to improve supply chain operations.

Location and Travel Requirements

  • This role is hybrid and based in one of the following locations: New Haven, CT; Buffalo, NY; or Yardley, PA.
  • Approximately 10-20% travel is expected, including internal meetings and visits to suppliers and manufacturing sites.
