Role Overview
The Director of Business Operations will play a pivotal role in reinforcing company-wide operational discipline and ensuring that strategic goals are transformed into actionable, measurable plans. Acting as a liaison between executive leadership and functional teams, this role oversees major company projects, resolving barriers, aligning cross-functional efforts, and making sure priorities and risks are clearly visible and managed. Working closely with the CEO and senior leaders, the position demands strategic insight combined with practical problem-solving and operational rigour. This role complements, rather than substitutes, functional leaders' responsibilities for their areas.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain a governance framework for strategic and critical initiatives across the company, including translating priorities into plans with defined milestones, ownership, and success metrics.
- Monitor progress, identify risks and resource issues, and enforce corrective measures to address delivery challenges.
- Facilitate cross-department collaboration, clarify accountabilities and decision rights, resolve execution obstacles, and align priorities with overarching company objectives.
- Identify operational inefficiencies and bottlenecks; drive enhancements in standard operating procedures, processes, governance, and accountability to optimize scalability, control, and service quality.
- Manage the company’s operational rhythm by organizing regular project and business reviews, preparing executive materials, and ensuring actionable outcomes with clear ownership and deadlines.
- Maintain comprehensive governance documents including project registers, risk logs, decision trackers, and action logs; provide transparent reporting and partner with control functions to uphold compliance and internal controls.
- Promote consistent business performance metrics and reporting standards; lead the creation and refinement of executive dashboards and management reports to support informed decision-making.
- Conduct reviews of project outcomes and operational changes to measure benefits realization, identify lessons learned, and ensure completion of any required remediation.
- Support executive decision-making by structuring complex issues, facilitating conflict resolution, escalating matters as needed, and tracking implementation of decisions.
Qualifications & Experience
- 8 to 12 years of relevant experience in business operations, strategy execution, management consulting, enterprise project management, or transformation initiatives.
- Proven track record managing complex cross-functional projects involving senior management and executives.
- Direct experience working with CEOs and executive leadership teams.
- Experience establishing operational frameworks such as governance models, reporting processes, and management dashboards.
- Strong commercial acumen and analytical skills with the ability to convert complex topics into actionable recommendations.
- Background in financial services, FinTech, payments, trading, or regulated sectors preferred.
- Relevant tertiary qualification in business, finance, commerce, operations, strategy or related discipline.
Key Competencies
- Ability to think at an enterprise level while attending meticulously to execution details.
- Strong ownership mindset, sound judgement, discretion, and follow-through capability.
- Influence skills to engage senior stakeholders beyond formal authority.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills tailored for executive audiences.
- Expertise in facilitation, negotiation, prioritisation, and conflict resolution.
- Data-driven approach to decision support and performance evaluation.
- Ability to perform effectively in a dynamic, ambiguous, and multi-jurisdictional environment.
- Sound understanding of governance, risk, compliance, and internal controls.
Benefits
- Competitive remuneration complemented by performance bonuses.
- Clear pathways for professional advancement within a global organization.
- A collaborative and inclusive workplace with exposure to cross-regional operations.
- Access to health and wellness programs.
- Flexible work arrangements supporting work-life balance.
