Role Overview

We are seeking a passionate Director of SEO who is deeply committed to mastering all facets of search engine optimization. This role is hands-on and not just about managing people remotely; it involves engaging directly with complex technical SEO and Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) challenges, crafting impactful content strategies, and adapting swiftly to major shifts in Google Search, AI-powered overviews, and other search technologies. Collaboration with our product team is key to leveraging AI for automating and enhancing the efficiency of our SEO initiatives.

Our clientele primarily consists of highly competitive law firms where SEO success has a direct influence on revenue, so every action must be data-driven, prioritized, and measurable in terms of business outcomes.

Core Responsibilities

  • Create and manage comprehensive SEO strategies aimed at boosting organic visibility, attracting qualified leads, and supporting client growth.
  • Perform thorough technical SEO audits to identify critical issues and develop prioritized plans based on potential business impact.
  • Stay abreast of ongoing updates in Google algorithms, AI-driven search advancements, and emerging search trends.
  • Act as the principal strategic SEO advisor for key client accounts, confidently presenting detailed recommendations and performance reports.
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams to implement successful SEO campaigns.
  • Lead technical audits using industry-standard tools including Ahrefs, Screaming Frog, Google Search Console, and Google Analytics 4 (GA4).
  • Identify technical SEO optimizations related to crawling, indexing, schema markup, internal linking, site architecture, page speed, redirects, and content quality.
  • Work hand-in-hand with developers to enact technical SEO improvements.
  • Formulate local SEO tactics focused on optimizing Google Business Profiles, maintaining citation consistency, and enhancing location-specific pages.
  • Design content strategies that address both traditional search engines and AI-enhanced search experiences while boosting E-E-A-T (Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, Trustworthiness) signals.
  • Collaborate with product development and engineering teams to lead research and development efforts towards automating improves and increasing ROI for customers.
  • Mentor SEO team members, establish best practices, and streamline internal documentation and reporting mechanisms.
  • Contribute to shaping the future trajectory of the company's SEO service offerings.

Required Qualifications

  • More than 7 years of professional SEO experience with a strong focus on technical SEO proficiency.
  • Demonstrated experience in steering SEO strategy for multiple clients or brands.
  • Advanced skills in using SEO tools such as Ahrefs and Google Search Console.
  • Experience with Screaming Frog, GA4, and Looker Studio for SEO auditing and data visualization.
  • Ability to interpret HTML and basic PHP to support technical implementations.
  • Deep knowledge of technical SEO components including schema, internal linking, site architecture, local SEO, and optimizing Google Business Profiles.
  • Understanding of current AI-driven search concepts, GEO, and modern search landscapes.
  • Strong communication skills with proven ability to deliver client presentations effectively.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in SEO for law firms.
  • Experience managing or mentoring SEO teams.
  • Familiarity with WordPress and technical website deployment.
  • Knowledge of local SEO tools like BrightLocal or Whitespark.

Compensation and Benefits

The anticipated salary range for this full-time, remote role is $120,000 to $145,000 per year, in line with relevant pay transparency regulations. In addition to base salary and commission, the company provides:
