Role Overview
The Director of Sales and Marketing will spearhead revenue enhancement strategies by managing comprehensive sales and marketing operations related to tournaments, corporate events, weddings, and social gatherings. This role emphasizes energetic leadership focused on expanding the sales pipeline, cultivating community relationships, and ensuring flawless event delivery. Collaborating closely with General Management, Food & Beverage, and Golf Operations, the director aims to optimize revenue streams through strategic offerings, data-driven digital marketing, and exceptional client service.
Primary Duties
- Lead full lifecycle sales activities for golf outings, weddings, corporate meetings, and social events, covering everything from prospecting to after-event follow-up.
- Implement an aggressive outbound approach including high-volume outreach, cold calling, client meetings, and active involvement in regional networking events and bridal expos.
- Establish and nurture strategic alliances with hotels, event planners, local businesses, and civic organizations to create a steady stream of recurring sales opportunities.
- Develop and execute the yearly Sales & Marketing plan to address slow periods and boost overall revenue.
- Oversee and enhance online event profiles on platforms such as Google Business, The Knot, WeddingWire, and Zola, while managing social media, email marketing, and paid advertising to reinforce brand recognition.
- Conduct semi-annual Competitive Market Analyses and SWOT assessments to stay current with industry trends and refresh event packages.
- Coordinate full event logistics and property tours; lead weekly meetings with food and beverage and golf teams to ensure smooth operations.
- Deliver exceptional hospitality throughout the client journey, gathering and responding to guest feedback for continuous improvement.
- Maintain comprehensive product knowledge of club offerings, menus, and merchandise to effectively promote additional services and enhance revenue.
- Monitor sales leads in CRM, manage event budgets, and prepare monthly financial reports aligning with business objectives.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and performance management to the Sales & Marketing Coordinator through regular check-ins and clear expectations.
- Work regularly with the General Manager to define strategy, set goals, and assess revenue achievements.
Qualifications
- A minimum of five years’ progressive leadership experience in sales within hospitality, event management, or venue operations.
- Proven success in proactive outbound sales, managing pipelines, and cultivating client relationships.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, coupled with strong presentation abilities.
- High proficiency with CRM software, Microsoft Office, and digital marketing platforms.
- Passion for outstanding service, event culture, and golf.
Work Schedule and Physical Requirements
The position entails a flexible work schedule including weekends, days, evenings, and holidays. This role is based onsite and does not support remote work. Physical demands include standing or walking for long periods (up to five hours), conducting property inspections, and occasionally lifting items weighing 20 to 50 pounds. Clear oral and written communication is essential.
Compensation and Benefits
- Annual salary ranges from $80,000 to $90,000 plus an uncapped commission plan.
- Classified as full-time, salaried, exempt employee with commission earnings.
- Medical, dental, and vision insurance plans available.
- Paid time off, holidays, and 401(k) retirement savings options.
- Perks include complimentary golf access and discounts on dining and merchandise.
