Role Summary

We are looking for a detail-oriented and organized Revenue Operations Director who excels in a fast-paced healthcare setting and is passionate about sustaining financial health for essential reproductive services. This leader will collaborate closely with clinical, finance, and operations departments to ensure smooth management of the entire claims process and optimize net patient revenue. Key responsibilities include managing billing workflows, clearinghouse tools, and electronic health record (EHR) configurations, coupled with oversight of billing staff productivity and growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage comprehensive revenue cycle operations including charge capture, claim submissions, denial handling, payer communications, patient billing, and accounts receivable collections.
• Track and report significant revenue metrics such as clean claim rates, accounts receivable days, denial frequency, and write-offs to organizational leadership on a monthly basis.
• Create and maintain billing and coding standards in partnership with clinical teams, ensuring uniformity across all insurance payers.
• Drive denial management and appeals processes by analyzing root causes, spotting trends, and closing systemic issues.
• Ensure billing compliance and readiness for all insurance plans accepted by Hey Jane, facilitating claims infrastructure preparation pre-care delivery.
• Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to assess revenue cycle management and artificial intelligence tools, optimizing billing system and EHR settings, including automation and integration.
• Support geographic expansion by implementing billing for new Medicaid programs and payer rollouts.
• Detect and address operational inefficiencies in revenue management, building scalable processes that minimize manual intervention and enhance accuracy.
• Manage and mentor a team of two to three billing specialists.

Qualifications

• A minimum of seven years' experience in healthcare revenue cycle or billing operations, including at least two years in leadership or management roles.
• Strong preference for candidates with Medi-Cal/Medicaid billing experience; experience working with multiple state Medicaid programs is highly advantageous.
• Background in telehealth, reproductive health, or women's health sectors is strongly preferred.
• Proficient knowledge of clearinghouse workflows, ERA/EOB reconciliation, and CPT/ICD-10 coding relevant to reproductive and virtual healthcare.
• Hands-on experience with billing system and EHR configuration, serving as an internal expert on these systems.
• Analytical approach with proven ability to use data for trend analysis, KPI monitoring, and implementing process improvements, moving beyond basic reporting.
• Excellent cross-functional collaboration skills, capable of working effectively with Clinical, Business Development, Finance, Product, and Operations teams directly.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, capable of simplifying complex billing issues for documentation and leadership briefs.
• Ability to thrive in fast-changing, ambiguous environments with adaptability, resourcefulness, and a focus on solutions.

Additional Information

This position is fully remote but limited to candidates residing in approved states including CA, CO, CT, DC, DE, HI, IL, MA, MD, NJ, NM, NY, OR, VT, and WA, with a preference for those located in New York City.

Compensation and Benefits

• Salary range: $145,000 to $180,000 annually plus equity.
• Unlimited paid vacation time.
